Itsukushima Shrine
A World Heritage site. Established in the 6th century, this shrine is one of Japan's finest, and is famous for its beautiful Shinden-zukuri style structure (architecture representative of a nobles' residence in the Heian period). The contrast of the green of Mt. Misen behind the lacquered shrine pavilion and the blue of the Seto Sea is beautiful and evocative of the underwater palace of Ryugujo.

Kay did a really nice job despite somewhat adverse weather conditions. The Peace Memorial Museum is a powerful experience, and a reminder that there is no place in this world for indiscriminate killing

Very enjoyable and informative tour. The only negative was the communications system was a little muffled. Kay was full of very interesting facts.

We visited the Itsukushima Shrine Otorii Gate near Miyajima and the Dome Monument in Hiroshima. Yuki had a very detailed and interesting knowledge of the locations he took us and we would definitely return to tour in Hiroshima

Full one day tour of Miyajimi island and Hiroshima highlights. Very jampacked. Island was the best visit. Definitely is planned so you will hit the island when high tide abs that is the best time to go. Enough time to roam around the small town for souvenirs and bite to eat. Tour guide Yuki was great!

This tour was very well-organised. Both Miyajima and Hiroshima are places worth visiting and if you’re strapped for time to do a deep-dive into either, the tour is for you. The group size was around 25, which we liked, and since all train tickets and entrance fees are taken care of by the organiser, the day feels nicely comfortable without any travel-related responsibilities. We would have liked to see more of Miyajima, but the time to explore is quite limited, considering there are only so many hours in a day and the travel time from Kyoto is extensive. What it definitely did was give us an incentive to explore Miyajima more in the future if we get the chance. We hit all the main spots and learned the basics about the large temple and the island‘s culture. The guided tour through Hiroshima was as interesting as it was devastating. We urge everyone to go if they get the chance, in order to learn about a significant piece of history from a knowledgeable local. We walked though all the main areas of the town, with our guide telling us known and unknown stories about the dropping of the A-bomb, answering all our questions. Hiroshima is not a ghostly museum town, it was presented to us as the epicentre of the peace movement in the world, aiming to educate without blame. Our guide Takeshi was great, showing care and consideration with any questions, and you could feel that he personally has a passion for this area, which is his home town.
