Songzanlin Monastery
Today, we first will visit Ganden Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan province. It has another alias - 'the little Potala Palace.' Built in 1679, it is located in the capital of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and is the most important monastery in southwest China.

5.00I just had a great day at Shanghai-La. Very good itinerary to enjoy the beauty of Shangri la. Stone is very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide with greatrecommendedation and patience. We enjoyed a lot during this trip. The last paradise on earth.

2.00Tour was well organised, and pickup was prompt. However, that was all that was good about this tour. We had a driver/ tour guide named Happy from Happy China Tours. His English was not great. We paid for a driver and an English-speaking Tour guide, but and all we got was a driver who was friends with many people. He did not explain anything in detail and when asked questions about a particular item he would just repeat what we said. Eg- Is this called Turtle Mountain (Gui Shan) because it is shaped like a turtle? Can you tell me more about it? His reply, yes turtle. When asked about what the significance of Napa Lake, he replied- lake, big, lots of yaks, horses. I cannot describe how underwhelmed we were with this tour. We went away knowing very little about Shangri-la and honestly felt cheated out of our money as we paid $200USD per person for a very poor tour service. Further to that, we were returned to the hotel 2 hours short of the allotted time and made to feel like we were a hindrance to the driver. (He actually said to us- If you are going to just keep looking around and do shopping I will go now). Overall, this is the worst tour experience I have had in China. Very disappointed.
