What To Expect

1

Black Virgin Mountain

Pick-up at 6am. Have breakfast at a local restaurant then proceed to Black Lady Mountain, approximately 3.5hrs to the Northeast of Tay Ninh. Black Lady Mountain consists of three major mountains covering an area of 24 kilometers and reaching an altitude of 986 meters. Conquering the 986-meter-high mountain, the highest in the nation’s southeastern region, might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The beautiful temples and caves at Black Lady Mountain used to house Buddhist monks and nuns remain largely undisturbed. Soaring on the cable car, we can take a panoramic view of a waterfall under the glistening sun, mysterious caves and dense forest.

Cao Dai Temple

We move to Cao Dai Temple is like a Walt Disney fantasia of the East. Its exterior is decorated with multi-colored dragons of all shapes and sizes competing for space with a number of swastikas. Above the main entrance is the all-seeing holy eye, the symbol of the Cao Dai sect. The interior is just as engaging as statues of Jesus Christ, Buddha and the Hindu god, Brahma, stand side by side. Cao Dai Temple is the eclectic mix of colours and the amazing use of architecture create a space of beauty, spirituality with a somewhat surreal flavour to western palates! For the midday service which was unbelievable in Cao Dai Temple - do not miss this!

Thanh was a great guide. He provided great information. Pick up was easy and punctual. There was a lot of riding in the van but it was needed to get to when we needed to go. Lunch provided was exceptional and there was so much food. The black lady mountain was amazing. Very much enjoyed it.

Tour was just ok. Places visited were nice and interesting, and all went well. However, several things bothered me: we were 5 in total, when 4 were Vietnamese and didn't speak any English, so I had absolutely no communication with others the entire long day. The food provided (breakfast and lunch) was not geared towards westerners. The guide (Bao) did a good job in the Ku chi Tunnels explaining to me in English, but otherwise there was not much info provided during the tour.

  • Long Day

It was a long day, because of the misinformation from the tour guide and confusion of the tour group members we left the Black Lady Mountain an hour later than expected. We arrived back at the hotel three hours later anticipated because of traffic due our late departure from the last stop.

  • Not a professional guide

The guide was not professional, he barely spoke English and was completely useless. It’s a shame that a Vietnamese guide can tell literally nothing about Cu Ci Tunnels to English speaking foreigners. We’ve seen many other professional guides there with other groups, so we can clearly compare. Also he missed the show time at Cao Dai Temple, we arrived late. And did not know how to travel to middle Pagoda at Black Virgin Mountain. Don’t buy it here, take a man with Van or Motorbike instead for a lower price, it will be same effective.

  • A great tour from HCMC with none of the sales pressure

I wanted to see the Cu Chi Tunnels and take advantage of the journey to see other nearby attractions but didn't want to be subjected to all the vendors at the Mekong Delta, so this was the perfect tour for me. The amount of time spent at each venue was perfect and the lunch had a variety of choices and was delicious. Our tour guide "King" Cong was fantastic sharing not only information about the locations but also photos and background information via WhatsApp. My only complaint was the discrepancy in the estimated return time. Several people were told 8pm and others (including me) were told 6pm.
