my goddaughter and I went out on a beautiful day in cold Spring Harbor with Joe. We had a great time. Joe was very knowledgeable of the area and the animals that we may see. He had great patience and gave us good expectations and directions on what to do once we were out there not to mention the area is beautiful!! can't wait to go back!

We thought we were simply renting Kayaks and going out. To our surprise, we were given instruction by someone who expertly knows how to man a kayak. That was not us. Most every time we ever went out we were in pain afterward! Not only that, Joe knows the harbor according to the tides and this is an operating harbor not crazy busy but nonetheless, you need to know what side of buoys to stay to. The scenery was worth the price of Our tickets. Our day the weather people got it wrong and it was the most incredible day ever! You get to see some music history … John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s home in the 1970s and of Course the home of the famous Watson of Watson and Crick…they revolutionized research in DNA! How lucky are we to have Cold Soring Labs in our backyard. For my husband and I, this was staycation Day 2 and boy it didn’t disappoint! I think I got more than I paid for in the conversation with Joe! It was the most at peace I have felt in years and it was an aha moment for me. I can’t say anyone else will get that spiritual reckoning that I had and my husband pleasantly kayaked as I did what I refer to as yapping! When I’m excited about a topic or have to get my thoughts out, I just speak! Joe listened and added to my thoughts! This was one of the luckiest moments of kismet in my adult senior life! Our original times were changed and HOW LUCKY were we??? Thank you, Joe. We will be buying a membership because …why would we novices go out and buy kayaks that we need to store or schlep? Joe is an amazing listener and an amazing teacher and guide! We highly recommend to locals or non locals. Even if you think you know how to kayak which apparently we did not, you might just learn something…MAYBE about yourself ….and what better place to learn than in nature.

All of us (4) were new to kayaking. Joe was a great instructor, able to teach even the most spastic of us to control our kayak, turn, stop, and forward. Joe has great knowledge of the area and has lots of stories. As great as the one hour tour was, it wasn't enough, though. Do yourself a favor and do the two hour tour.

Joe was excellent. Taught everyone well especially those who had no experience with kayaking. Made sure everyone was safe and had a good time. Did the hour tour which flew by.

You don’t just learn how to kayak. You get a very good conversation with Joe, and learn about all the hidden gems of the town and history. Ask about the local legends, restaurants and bakeries. Joe knows about them all.
