Safari To Udawalawe
Udawalawe is undoubtedly the best place in Sri Lanka to see wild Asian Elephants throughout the year: there are about 500 elephants in the park and they often roam in herds of up to 100. Udawalawe National Park is unique in terms of consistency in numbers of elephants roaming the park: it has no a seasonal variation in herds of elephants. The best hours to visit the park are in the mornings and evenings. Late evening also affords the photographic opportunities in the backdrop of loveliest sunsets. Udawalawe National Park is one of the best places to see Raptors in Sri Lanka and afford excellent opportunities for photography. Endemic birds include the Sri Lankan junglefowl, Sri Lanka spurfowl, Sri Lanka green pigeon, Sri Lanka grey hornbill, Sri Lanka woodshrike and Sri Lanka swallow.
Buduruwagala Temple
The beautiful, 1000-year-old, rock-cut Buddha figures of Buduruwagala are the region's biggest attraction. The gigantic standing Buddha (at 15m, it is the tallest on the island) here still bears traces of its original stuccoed robe, and a long streak of orange suggests it was once brightly painted. It's surrounded by smaller carved figures. This remote site is located 9km south of Wellawaya, accessed by a scenic side road. The tallest Buddha statue in the world was the Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan until the destruction of this ancient monument by the Taliban in March 2001. The Buduruwagala Buddha Statue is now considered the tallest in the world. The centre statue is flanked by two statues which each about 40 foot in height. These two again flanked by two figures, one female and the other male.
Ravana Ella Falls
The Ravana Falls are located in the misty mountains of Ella, Sri Lanka along the road. The water gushes down a height of 25 meters fallen from an oval concave rock. Ravana Falls is a 3-tier cascading waterfall, creating rock pools along its way down. During the wet season the Ravana Falls takes the form of a drooping areca flower, but its wide size is reduced dramatically during the dry season. Although it is always worth it to check this waterfall when you’re Ella as it’s one of the most easiest accessible waterfalls in Sri Lanka.

Ramboda Waterfall
Rivers, as they flow over uneven ground or down mountains, often split into tributaries or form waterfalls. Sometimes two tributaries of the same river may form twin waterfalls very close to each other as the water spills down cliffs and rocks. However, it is quite uncommon for the tributaries to combine after forming the waterfalls making a Y shape. This unique and beautiful sight can be seen at the Pussellawa area of Nuwara Eliya, at the Ramboda Pass. The Ramboda Falls in Sri Lanka or Ramboda Ella or Puna Ella as these falls are called is created from Puna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. It makes a twin with Dunsinane Falls which is created by Pundalu Oya, also a tributary of Kothmale River, and combines at the base to form a Y shape. So we can do small walking down to the waterfall to get better view!
Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show
Watch a Kandyan cultural show and be awed by the spectacular dance, acrobatics, costumes and music. Held in Kandy town, this cultural show depicts various forms of Kandyan dancing which was once native to the area but has now spread to different regions of the island. Originated from a dance performed by Indian shamans who came to the island, Kandyan dancing plays an important role in Sri Lankan culture and is a much-anticipated event during perahera processions. During the show, you will see several dances which depict the graceful movements of birds and animals, which trace their origins back to the ancient ritual known as the Kohomba Kapkariya, as well as energetic acrobatic performances where the men perform a series of leaping pirouettes and stunts such as plate-spinning and the dramatic ‘fire walk’ which ends the show. Evening we can participate to do this activity once we reached to the Kandy!
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) is in the center of the cityand was originally built by the Kandyan Kings between 1687 and 1707, in order to house and honor the sacred tooth relic. ‘Maligawa’ (Palace) literally translates to palace, and the temple is part of the palace complex. The entire complex is over three centuries old at least and has seen many a king’s rise and fall. The tooth relic temple enshrines relics of what is believed to be the actual teeth of Lord Buddha in well secured golden casket. After Lord Buddha was cremated, his four canine teeth were taken from the ashes. These teeth are regarded as the holiest relics of Buddhism. It’s the fourth tooth, the tooth relic of the Kalinga, that is today enshrined at the Sri Dalada Maligawa. After the the Kandy dance show, we're walking to this main Temple to participate for evening pooja!

We booked Lala for our 16 day tour of Sri Lanka. Having done a reasonable amount of travelling before I was initially sceptical of having a driver/tour guide. In retrospect having a driver/guide was so much better and easier than having to organise things yourself. As soon as we met Lala he was warm and friendly and we immediately knew he was the right choice. He became an important part of our experience of Sri Lanka and I couldn’t recommend him more. A really nice guy, always happy and having fun and a good conversation. He knows his history and his way around the island and he’s a good driver. Totally trustworthy and just an all round genuinely nice guy. We had such an amazing trip to Sri Lanka. We’ve kept in touch with Lala and hope to see him again soon for another tour. Highly recommended.

A truly special holiday On considering options for a family holiday, our neighbours recommended Sri Lanka and Lala in particular, with whom they had a wonderful holiday the year before. We reached out and with some great suggestions from Lala we landed on an itinerary that balanced our interest in the history and natural beauty of Sri Lanka, with our desire to go at a pace that suited our 3 year old and felt like a real holiday. From the moment we arrived, we felt safe and comfortable in Lala's company - a warm welcome and safe driver (now even comes with child seat ;-). We travelled through the mountains and southern coast, to Sigiriya rock, Dambulla Cave Rock Temple, Kandy, Ella, Nuwara Eliya, Udalawale NP, Mirissa and back up the coast via Columbo. A great mixture of history, natural beauty, animals, random interesting stops and sights, beaches, swimming etc etc. Highlight for me was the train from Nuwara Eliya, for my fiance the spa and massage on the second night and my son, the Safari and seeing elephants sleeping standing up in the early morning light. Lala was so considerate throughout, always keeping his ear to the ground in case anything special or interesting was afoot, giving us space to enjoy family time, looking out for our safety and even carrying our little boy when he (and I) got tired! We had not previously travelled with a chauffeur / guide but it made it so much easier and allowed us to enjoy our holiday even more without having to worry about the little things. Not to mention Lala's knowledge of history and culture actually allowed us to dig a little deeper than we might have otherwise have been able. Two unbelievably special things - Lala managed to track down the BEST seats in the most special historical train for us and he also organised a special Fire Engine cake and party at a restaurant in Ella for our little boy's 3rd birthday! If you are considering a guide, don't hesitate to drop Lala a message and I'm sure you'll not look back. We have a friend from our little one's nursery off to meet Lala over Easter! Sam, Meg & Ray

This tour was magnificent, I discovered a country, a culture of landscapes A big thank you to Mr Lala who became a brother and not a guide. He allowed us to see things we wanted. He was really there for us during this stay and I can't thank him enough. I recommend to all those who love nature to take a trip to this country.

Myself and my husband travelled with Lala at the beginning of this year. I have to say this was one of the most enriching and beautiful trips of my life. I am someone who is well travelled and usually go for the DIY option but for this holiday we wanted to travel in comfort, with ease and security- which Lala delivered 100%. Lala helped us plan a route which consisted of some usual SL highlights (including Sigiriya / Ella) but then also experiences off the beaten track (white water rafting and jungle treks). Our route was - Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, (train) Ella, Yala, Udawalawe, Hiriketiya, Weligama, Galle and Colombo. All beautiful places steeped in history with the most amazing scenery. Lala was incredibly knowledgeable about all elements of Sri lanka - from wildlife, to the ancient kingdoms, to the highest peaks, to buddhism - I felt I learned so much about this beautiful country and its people in a way that felt very enriching and rewarding. I think it is important to note that when you book a driver or tour guide, you need someone who understands the importance of being available for customers without being overbearing and Lala managed this perfectly - so myself and my husband still had time just the 2 of us with all the comfort of knowing he was around if we ever needed. Travelling with Lala was a wonderful experience and I feel lucky he was part of our trip. He is a very trustworthy, knowledgeable and a genuinely lovely person - I can not recommend him highly enough!

I must admit we did not actually do this particular trip, but we organized our own itinerary with help of Lala, the owner of the Dream Tour operator. We were 8, 4 adults and 4 children age from 10 to 13 and we had the most wonderful time ever. Sri Lanka is definitely one of the most beautiful countries that we visited, full of great nature, history, friendly people and awesome food. We only had one week, but Lala was with us the whole time and he was the most helpful and kind guide we could have wished for. Thank to him and his hospitality and service we visited many wonderful places (Dumbala, Kandy, Ella, Nuwara Elija, Udawalawe national park, Mirrisa) we saw beautiful animals including wild elephants and blue whales, and overall we had one of the most wonderful family and friends holiday ever. Thank you dear Lala for all your help and we definitely will return...not only one time :). Jan and Veronika.
