This trek begins with an iconic flight into Lukla Airport at 2,860 m. Straight away, you will trek for 3 to 4 hours to reach Phakding. And although that looks like an easy day on paper, this is the Himalayas, and each day has its own challenge! You will trek for approximately 5 hours daily, some days longer at 7 to 8 hours. With alpine forests, villages, fast-flowing glacier rivers, and mountains, each day brings something new to see and marvel at.
Some of the trek's highlights included the famous Namche Bazaar—the starting point for numerous expeditions to climb Everest; visiting Tengboche Monastery, the largest one in the region; climbing the Everest viewpoint at Kalapatthar; and, of course, reaching Everest Base Camp itself.
The route from Gorakshep to Base Camp and back takes 6 to 7 hours of serious walking over rocky ground formed by glacier debris. All while under the protection of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and more mountains.

On arrival in Lukla, you will be greeted by your guide and porter. Head off towards Phakding, descending to the Dudh Koshi Ghat and following the bank of the river. This is your introduction to the Everest Region, and already you can feel the cool air and the people's warmth. Overnight in Phakding. Please read: At certain times, Lukla flights depart and return to Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu due to ongoing upgrades at Kathmandu Airport. It is about a 4-hour drive to Ramechhap from Kathmandu, so we have to leave at 2 am. The return drive at the end of the trek is between 4 and 6 hours, depending on traffic.

Starting off deceptively easy from Lobuche to Gorekshep,, the trail gets rocky with dunes and moraine until we reach base camp. From here, we see the infamous Khumbu Glacier and Icefall and may meet climbers on their way to attempt to scale the highest mountain in the world. After taking stunning photographs and enjoying being here, we return to Gorakshep, where we overnight.

If you thought yesterday was a photographer's paradise, waiting to see the views of Everest from Kalapathar. We rise before dawn to witness sunrise over Mount Everest. Nuptse Nup, Changtse, and Lhotse are illuminated by the first rays of the sun also. Being on top of Kalapathar is as close as we can get to Everest in terms of views without climbing to the peak! Reluctantly, we turn back to hike down to Gorekshep for breakfast and on to Pheriche. If the group still has more energy, we can walk on to Panboche and overnight there.

It was a great experience with Magical Nepal. It was very organized and was stress-free. There was a lot of transparency with the company. Our guide, KP, was beyond accommodating and made the trek a very pleasant experience. He knew all the best routes and made sure that we all felt safe and healthy throughout the entire time. He offered great advice about food, clothing, what to do and what not to do. Considering that this was a challenging trek, his expertise and hospitality made this a very positive experience. I would highly recommend anyone choosing Magical Nepal and KP for anyone considering completing this great trek

KP was an excellent guide on the Everest Base Camp trek. He kept a steady pace, made sure everyone was safe and comfortable, and was always checking in, especially with the altitude. He’s easygoing, knowledgeable, and great to be around, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend KP if you’re doing the trek.

Just wrapped up one of the most incredible journeys of my life — the Everest Base Camp trek! 🏔️✨ I want to give a huge shoutout to our amazing trekking agency in Nepal @Magical Nepal who made this experience so smooth, safe, and unforgettable from start to finish. From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu to the final descent, everything was handled with professionalism and genuine care by Mr Saugat and Mr Saajan. Our guide Mr Saajan was not only highly experienced and knowledgeable about the mountains, but also incredibly kind, patient, and encouraging — especially on the tougher days at high altitude. He constantly checked on our well-being, adjusted the pace when needed, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident. The porters Mr Vivek , Mr Bhupi were absolute heroes, always smiling despite carrying heavy loads, and the entire team created such a warm, supportive atmosphere that it felt like trekking with family. Accommodation, meals, permits, and logistics were all perfectly arranged, allowing us to fully focus on enjoying the breathtaking हिमालय views and the journey itself. If you’re considering the Everest Base Camp trek, I highly recommend going with Magical Nepal trek agency — it truly makes all the difference. This was more than just a trek; it was a life-changing experience I’ll never forget. 🙏 Thank you again to the entire team for making this dream come true! 💙

Went for EBC with a friend. Beautiful landscapes, laughing and sharing moments with our guide Jay, but unfortunately ended up with us both being sick and cancelling the trek mid-itinerary. However Jay still showed himself the most caring and motivated for my friend and I safety / well-being, checking up on us when sick, carrying me when unable to walk down to a lower altitude village in emergency and even visiting us in hospital after the trek ended : a humble, caring and genuinely kind guide that I would blindly recommend to anyone ! Magical Nepal themselves also showed themselves very available in texts & calls, and made sure our trip went as smooth as possible, huge thanks !
