Wonderful experience! The beds are nice for lounging, comfortable for sleeping. A fantastic way to snorkel in the day and view the stars at night. Very relaxing and peaceful, and the food is top-notch. In fact, my rustic family was “tired” of fine dining by the end of this and just wanted burgers or pizza!

We spent one night in a Glamping Tent on New Years Day. On the transfer out to the Reef, the reef sleep & reef suites have reserved seating on the top level. They serve morning tea on board and lunch on board once you arrive. Once the day trippers had gone home, we snorkelled as the water was basically glass it was perfect. We saw so much marine life! We did a guided snorkel tour with James (nice guy, even if he is a bit sour about England losing the Ashes haha). Canapés and dinner were at 6pm and it was great. My only complaint is that the steak was rare and sirloin cut - basically impossible to cut and undercooked for my tastes. Dessert was so good. Unfortunately it was very windy and rainy, so we didn’t have the top of our bed open at night but it was nice to be snuggled under in the tent whilst the wind was howling. Breakfast the next morning was lovely and so was morning tea. Lunch was served on the boat due to the weather, but it was still a chef lunch. I had chicken and my husband had snapper and he said it was delicious. We made friends with a beautiful American couple which was a highlight. Absolutely worth every cent. We’re local so we will be back, next time in the underwater suite I think!

  • Once in a lifetime Christmas experience!!!

Our Christmas morning this year was off the charts AMAZING!! We slept on a floating platform on the Great Barrier Reef!!!! How's that for unique??!! Early on Christmas Eve, we took a 3 hour ferry to the Reef World platform. Then we did a helicopter tour of the Hardy Reef of the Great Barrier Reef including the famous Heart Reef. This was our first helicopter ride and it was definitely one for the books. The beauty was incredible. My wife even spotted a manta ray from the sky! Then we did a underwater viewing boat and saw George the Giant Queensland Grouper. He's about 10 feet long and over 600lbs!! He's gentle and likes looking at the tourists. After all the day pass people left, we snorkeled with the few others who were staying overnight. Wow, the marine life on the reef are HUGE. The damsel fishes were the size of serving platters and there were many different fish that were as big as us!!! And the colors of the coral were so diverse and beautiful. We also saw beautiful blue coral and a blue starfish! Amazing stayed out for more than 2 hours! AND a 5 foot black tip reef shark swam right by her!! Overnight we slept on a tent bed on the top of the platform. Then at sunrise we were able to see the top of the reef during low tide!! We got another chance to snorkel before the day guests arrived. Amazing was able to point out giant clams, which are so so beautiful. We had no idea the different colors clams could be inside the shells. We had wonderful meals and the staff was so wonderful. They even made really great meals for the vegan, vegetarian and glucose intolerant in the overnight group. The others guests were so great. From Finland, Germany, Italy, France, California. A WNBA player and her boyfriend. A guy who came to Australia from Canada years ago on a sports visa for curling then decided to become a resident and is now a barrister in Brisbane. Less than 20 people were overnight guests. Before time to leave, Amazing snorkeled one last time and was rewarded with an octopus sighting! She even got to watch it swim!! Definitely one of the best Christmas experiences ever! (And Amazing decorated the underwater viewing window and gave her extra decorations to the staff who decorated the rest of the platform)

What an amazing experience this was. With a small group of people we spend the night at the Great Barrier Reef. Something to definitely do when you have the chance. Great food and drinks on board. Perfectly cared for by the crew. A lot of snorkeling and a snorkeling trip with instructor done. Also highly recommended. The only downside was the 1st lunch on the boat (which is also for the daytrippers).

The Reefsleep experience was absolutely breathtaking! The host team, lead by the AMAZING Amy, made us feel special and took such great care of all of us. The snorkel/dive team, particularly Treagan and James, were phenomenal. I had my first dive and Treagan made it so easy, that I was able to truly enjoy the sights of the reef and all the beautiful fish. We enjoyed a helicopter ride, a semi-sub (glass bottom) ride, and lots of incredible meals, by Chef Antoine. The accommodations were perfect to rest and stargaze. There is no doubt we highly recommend this experience.

  • Whitsundays Reefsleep snorkel but don't scuba experience

We did a one night stay on the Cruise Whitsundays Reef Sleep. The Reef sleep experience is excellent. The 'tent beds' have an incredible view of the reef and the horizon. Beds are clean and there is storage for 2+ backpacks under the bed. And an outlet to charge your phone, etc. Where this exoerience falls short is the scuba diving. I did one dive and was glad I hadn't prepaid for a second dive. Our dive was the same route as a guided snorkel tour. Just a few meters deeper. This is an experience for snorkelling and sleeping on a tent bed on the Great Barrier Reef. Not a dive experience.

Worth every penny, and so much more delevered than i thought we would get. The staff, from pick up to drop off were fantastic and helpful. The onboard pontoon staff who looked after us were brilliant and friendly, Amy, Olivia and Jeff could not have been more approachable and made sure we were well fed, watered and wanted for nothing. The Chef, (i think it was Thomas) food was amazing and the serving was fantastic, set in a lovely enviroment to make you feel special. The lamb rack and red snapper were highlights for us. The caretakers took care of things around the boat seamlessly. The dive lead Josh was friendly, patient and very knowledgable. I've been on other snorkelling / diving experiences in Cairns / Port Douglas and overseas. This one was tops for everything from orgainsation, running to safety and comfort. Life guards on duty and a little boat out ready to pick people up if they need help. The location is just paradise. The reef is alive with coral and a population of stunning fish on the reef with the bigger ones, that seem to like to live just under the boat. We saw multiple whales swim past, breaching and flipping their tales. The submersible was great and the girl who was doing the commentry was fantsativc and knowledgable, and we saw a turtle. Mother Nature certainly put on a show for us. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and sunrise from the comfort of a plush bed in the warm swags. I would recommend a night time picture with the stars etc. A once in a lifetime experience that we want to do again! One point for consideration is the transit to / from the pontoon. All overnight guests are placed in the forward centre of the boat, which is great because you can start to form friends for your stay and have chats. Rather than having them into a few center seats with no window views, maybe they could be allocated the window seats to allow them outside views.

  • Fantastic if your bed is reef facing, if not, not so much

It’s well worth paying extra and staying the night for reefsleep rather than just going for the day. The best parts were when it was just the reefsleep guests. When everyone was there it was very hectic. We travelled from Hamilton island on the boat which was 2 hours, it was quite a rough journey on parts so I recommended taking sea sickness tablets as lots of people were quite unwell and that’s not a good start to the experience. We arrived at around 11am could check in at 2.30pm so we stored our bags away and did a snorkel safari which was fun. The guide was very informative. You’re pre-allocated a bed for the reefsleep and unfortunately we drew the short straw and had the worst one which did affect our experience. Most of the beds have a lovely view of the reef, and can watch sunrise in the mornings. Some however have a view the opposite way which is where other boats dock (literally right in view line) and to make it worse we were right next to the exhaust which was unsightly and very loud, and the fire hoses. There were also a load of cable ties wrapped around the railing as a makeshift barb wire for the birds. Not exactly picturesque and not something those on the other side had to endure. We totally missed out on sunrise and didn’t exactly want to hang around other people’s beds to get a look. The following day check out is at 2pm so you can use your beds until then but as our bed was on the wrong side we didn’t have sun on ours. The 2beds next to us were kept empty for the reef suite guests to use the following morning after they’d checked out (as their check out time is earlier), so nobody was expected to stay in those ones. Given we were closer to the back we were also closer to the mass of black noddy birds on the pontoon. We were given ear plugs but couldn’t sleep through the sounds of the exhaust and birds. People in the bed we had shouldn’t be expected to pay the same rate as those on the other side. Their experience would’ve been so much better and we felt slightly robbed because of that. Food was 5star, plentiful and very tasty. Couldn’t fault it.
