  • Great experience!

What an amazing experience this was. With a small group of people we spend the night at the Great Barrier Reef. Something to definitely do when you have the chance. Great food and drinks on board. Perfectly cared for by the crew. A lot of snorkeling and a snorkeling trip with instructor done. Also highly recommended. The only downside was the 1st lunch on the boat (which is also for the daytrippers).

The Reefsleep experience was absolutely breathtaking! The host team, lead by the AMAZING Amy, made us feel special and took such great care of all of us. The snorkel/dive team, particularly Treagan and James, were phenomenal. I had my first dive and Treagan made it so easy, that I was able to truly enjoy the sights of the reef and all the beautiful fish. We enjoyed a helicopter ride, a semi-sub (glass bottom) ride, and lots of incredible meals, by Chef Antoine. The accommodations were perfect to rest and stargaze. There is no doubt we highly recommend this experience.

  • Whitsundays Reefsleep snorkel but don't scuba experience

We did a one night stay on the Cruise Whitsundays Reef Sleep. The Reef sleep experience is excellent. The 'tent beds' have an incredible view of the reef and the horizon. Beds are clean and there is storage for 2+ backpacks under the bed. And an outlet to charge your phone, etc. Where this exoerience falls short is the scuba diving. I did one dive and was glad I hadn't prepaid for a second dive. Our dive was the same route as a guided snorkel tour. Just a few meters deeper. This is an experience for snorkelling and sleeping on a tent bed on the Great Barrier Reef. Not a dive experience.

Worth every penny, and so much more delevered than i thought we would get. The staff, from pick up to drop off were fantastic and helpful. The onboard pontoon staff who looked after us were brilliant and friendly, Amy, Olivia and Jeff could not have been more approachable and made sure we were well fed, watered and wanted for nothing. The Chef, (i think it was Thomas) food was amazing and the serving was fantastic, set in a lovely enviroment to make you feel special. The lamb rack and red snapper were highlights for us. The caretakers took care of things around the boat seamlessly. The dive lead Josh was friendly, patient and very knowledgable. I've been on other snorkelling / diving experiences in Cairns / Port Douglas and overseas. This one was tops for everything from orgainsation, running to safety and comfort. Life guards on duty and a little boat out ready to pick people up if they need help. The location is just paradise. The reef is alive with coral and a population of stunning fish on the reef with the bigger ones, that seem to like to live just under the boat. We saw multiple whales swim past, breaching and flipping their tales. The submersible was great and the girl who was doing the commentry was fantsativc and knowledgable, and we saw a turtle. Mother Nature certainly put on a show for us. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and sunrise from the comfort of a plush bed in the warm swags. I would recommend a night time picture with the stars etc. A once in a lifetime experience that we want to do again! One point for consideration is the transit to / from the pontoon. All overnight guests are placed in the forward centre of the boat, which is great because you can start to form friends for your stay and have chats. Rather than having them into a few center seats with no window views, maybe they could be allocated the window seats to allow them outside views.

  • Fantastic if your bed is reef facing, if not, not so much

It’s well worth paying extra and staying the night for reefsleep rather than just going for the day. The best parts were when it was just the reefsleep guests. When everyone was there it was very hectic. We travelled from Hamilton island on the boat which was 2 hours, it was quite a rough journey on parts so I recommended taking sea sickness tablets as lots of people were quite unwell and that’s not a good start to the experience. We arrived at around 11am could check in at 2.30pm so we stored our bags away and did a snorkel safari which was fun. The guide was very informative. You’re pre-allocated a bed for the reefsleep and unfortunately we drew the short straw and had the worst one which did affect our experience. Most of the beds have a lovely view of the reef, and can watch sunrise in the mornings. Some however have a view the opposite way which is where other boats dock (literally right in view line) and to make it worse we were right next to the exhaust which was unsightly and very loud, and the fire hoses. There were also a load of cable ties wrapped around the railing as a makeshift barb wire for the birds. Not exactly picturesque and not something those on the other side had to endure. We totally missed out on sunrise and didn’t exactly want to hang around other people’s beds to get a look. The following day check out is at 2pm so you can use your beds until then but as our bed was on the wrong side we didn’t have sun on ours. The 2beds next to us were kept empty for the reef suite guests to use the following morning after they’d checked out (as their check out time is earlier), so nobody was expected to stay in those ones. Given we were closer to the back we were also closer to the mass of black noddy birds on the pontoon. We were given ear plugs but couldn’t sleep through the sounds of the exhaust and birds. People in the bed we had shouldn’t be expected to pay the same rate as those on the other side. Their experience would’ve been so much better and we felt slightly robbed because of that. Food was 5star, plentiful and very tasty. Couldn’t fault it.

Exceptional reef experience suitable for couples and families. From check in to check out we were fabulously looked after by both the boat crew and the pontoon team. Excellent food, many meals and snacks, drinks all included. This is a first rate operation. The accompanied snorkel safari was well worth while, as was the semi submersible reef visit. It is a three hour trip from Airlee Beach via Hamilton which does not seem to get mentioned anywhere, so worth taking something to do on the boat leg.

I took my parents to reef world for a reef sleep stay and we were absolutely blown away. It was worth every penny. The staff were uniformly lovely and helpful. The ladies, Mae, Olivia and Alba could not have been more approachable and made sure we were well fed and watered and wanted for nothing. Thomas the Chef put on some fantastic meals. The lamb rack and red snapper were highlights for us. The caretakers took care of things around the boat seamlessly. The divers Amy and Guillaume were friendly, patient and generous with newbies like me. I've been on other snorkelling experiences overseas and in Australia - this one made me feel the most safe and comfortable, with life guards on duty and a little boat out ready to pick people up if they need help. The location is just paradise. The resident turtle popped in for a visit in the morning, munching on some coral growing on the side of the boat. There's a population of stunning fish that seem to like to live just under the boat. We saw multiple whales swim past, breaching and flipping their tales. We even saw some rays breach, which was an amazing sight. Mother Nature certainly put on a show for us. We even enjoyed a beautiful sunset and sunrise from the comfort of a plush bed in the warm swags. A once in a lifetime experience that we want to do again! We had some black noddy birds around at night that made it feel a bit apocalyptic, but the ladies took care of them expertly. If I had one suggestion, it would be to bring a dog on board to scare the birds away. We visited once before on the other pontoon that's currently being renovated/repaired, that was meant for just day trippers. This pontoon now services everyone which can make it quite crowded for a few hours. We would love to return for the reef suites experience one day, hopefully when the other pontoon is back up and running too. The only constructive feedback I have is the organisation of the reserved seating on the ferry. If the air-conditioning upstairs could be fixed, that would be a much better spot to start the trip. Rather than having the overnight guests being squeezed into a few center seats with no window views, up the front next to the dive and photography teams. If you need to have the overnight guests up front next to the staff, suggest maybe putting the guests on the window seats and having the staff teams sit together in the middle table? We felt like we were missing out on seeing whales during the ferry because we had to sit in the "reserved" seats. On the trip back, most reef suite guests sat upstairs instead as it had a better view, giving up their "reserved" seating. If you're wanting to give the overnight guests an extra special experience, suggest making the upstairs tables and window seats reserved instead. :)

We did the Reef Sleep for a work catch up, this was one of the coolest experiences I've done in the whitsundays. What an absolute bucket list experience! The water was so beautiful and the feeling of waking up on the water is surreal. The dinner was brilliant aswell as breakfast in the morning. I would love to do this again one day and wpuld highly recommend this experience! 10/10
