A 2-Day 1 Night tour to Nyungwe National Park offers a fantastic opportunity to experience chimpanzee trekking, the canopy walk, a visit to the King's Palace, and a tea plantation tour.

The tour typically starts with a drive from Kigali to Nyungwe, followed by a visit to the King's Palace with an en-route stop for lunch in Nyanza and a tea plantation tour in Gisakura and an overnight stay at a lodge within or near the park. The next day includes chimpanzee trekking and canopy walkway. Back to Kigali.

7 am morning pick up from your hotel in Kigali and one way to Nyungwe National park for an estimated 5-6 hours of driving. 9.30 am - 11 am Mid-way: stop-over by King Palace Museum for the tour of Palace and the history of Rwanda. After visiting the Palace then you will be transferred to STAFFORD Art Coffee Shop for leg stretching, using the washrooms, having Lunch and some coffee. 11 am - 3 pm driving to Nyungwe

11 am - 3 pm driving to Nyungwe 3 pm check-in at Hotel (Mid-Range / Luxury) Where you will freshen up, relax/swim before having tea plantation tour boat by 4.30 pm in Gisakura tea factory. Nyungwe National Park - Rwanda

After early morning breakfast, you will be taken to Nyungwe National Park headquarters for the briefing on chimpanzee trekking. By 6:00 am the briefing is led by the Park Guides and is all about the rules of tracking chimpanzees, the park and what to expect. After the briefing, the Park Guides will lead you into the forest to find the chimps. Chimpanzee trekking is quite different from gorilla trekking. Chimps stay longer on top of trees compared to gorillas. Their groups are also more vocal and dramatic. It is possible to hear their cries from a mile away even before getting close to them. By the time you get to them, they would have already seen your group. Tracking chimpanzee usually takes between 3 to 5 hours. You only have an hour to observe them. Use the time to take as many photos as you can.

Nyungwe Canopy Walk

After spending one hour with the chimps, you will be led back to the park offices where you will find the company driver guide waiting for you. The driver guide will take you to the booked hotel for lunch and rest. Later in the Afternoon, the driver will take you to Uwinka Visitors Center for Canopy walkway and birding. The Canopy walkway usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour. Expect to see small monkeys(mountain monkeys), butterflies and much more. 1:00 End of the trip and Transfer back to Kigali We hope that you would have enjoyed your time in Nyungwe National Park.
