Join Newfoundland’s award-winning boat tour as we depart from the heart of downtown St. John’s, the oldest seaport in North America. Witness the world’s largest concentration of humpback whales, watching as they thrust their massive 40 ton bodies into the air, and wave their iconic tails for amazing photo opportunities. Steam through the passageway of 12,000 year old icebergs as they travel from the glaciers of Greenland. Surround yourself with the different seabirds that frequent our shores including the black-legged kittiwakes, northern gannets, bald eagles and the elegant yet playful Atlantic Puffins. Visit the most easterly point in North America, Cape Spear. Breathtaking views of where the Atlantic Ocean meets the land, with Cape Spear Lighthouse and Battery above you. The staff was friendly, and the boat was great. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see any icebergs, whales, or other marine wildlife during the tour. I understand that sightings of whales and other wildlife can never be guaranteed. However, I spoke with other tour operators who mentioned that icebergs had been visible around Sleepy Cove throughout the week, and several friends were able to see them on their tours. Perhaps my expectation was that there would be more local knowledge and awareness of where icebergs and other points of interest were likely to be found. While I understand that nature is unpredictable, I had hoped for a bit more guidance based on current conditions in the area.

Paid $160.00 per person and unfortunately it was cut extremely short. Due to high winds. People were puking and super uncomfortable.

Icequest should have cancelled today with rough seas! They did NOT and were not prepared for most passengers vomiting!! I have requested a refund and due to having to require to have our warm coats washed, we will be without them until Friday late afternoon.

The staff were professional, friendly, caring, and attentive. The entire experience was amazing! The iceberg we saw was incredible and the harbour tour provided afterwards was a treat!

Amazing!! Our boat trip would have been cancelled because bad weather was coming in so they called us to arrange a different time before we flew home. We got to have a once in a lifetime experience of seeing an iceberg!

Great crew, great boat and great iceberg. BUT. I feel a bit cheated, we paid $600 for this under the impression there would be a possibility to see whales and puffins, we were here in peak puffins season after all and the page heavily leans on that (the first 3 images are whales and puffins). We went straight to an ice bergs which was really cool circled it for 15-20 minutes and then came back dipping into 2 stops on the way. There was no explanation or even mention of whales of puffins (yes is says seabirds and that could be a gull but it’s heavily insinuated that it’s puffins) there is no guarantee of seeing wildlife, I get that, it’s not a zoo but to have the trip and never even mention either of those things once feels a bit off. Anyway if you’re going to do it and you aren’t expecting to see anything I absolutely recommend but if you’re looking for something specific then maybe check with them before you book and avoid the same mistake as us. Like I said, lovely people, lovely boat but I feel a little bit disappointed

Excellent trip. About 2 hours long, ideal length. Friendly, knowledgeable captain and a really good boat - perfect for watching icebergs and tall enough off the water to see whale activity from a distance. We had a close-up tour of the berg in Robin Hood Bay and then we caught up with a couple of minke whales after (no bragging!) I spotted a small blow a few hundred yards off the port beam. It was also a good way for our small group to judge the sea conditions. One of our group, Andrew Bedwell, is about to set off on a world record attempt to cross the Atlantic in the smallest boat ever - only 1m in length. Scan the QR code to register to follow his 3-month long trip.

+ We were fortunate to see an iceberg (not guaranteed). - 4 stars for being expensive. We did not see any whale (not guaranteed). I experienced many boat tours; this boat swung the most. Be careful if you have motion sickness. Nevertheless, larger boats need to keep more distance from icebergs. This boat tour offers closer looks.

Very nice, hospitable, and knowledge hosts that strive to give guests the best experience possible. They worked hard to give those on board the best viewing of a local ice berg. When a whale was sited off shore they went quickly in that direction so that everyone would have the opportunity to see it.
