You will find the landscape very interesting, changing and a bit challenging. It mixes small hills with wide valleys, waters, rare vegetation, livestock atmosphere and the charm of the rural life. Cold war bunkers can be seen along the way. Cini's lake will be an attractive stop for pictures and for the storytelling about this area.
You should book this tour to meet a special horse. The horses used on this ride (Albanian horses) are a local breed, a mix of Tarpan and Arab horses. They are small but perfectly suited to the rocky terrain, being surefooted and accustomed to trekking long mountainous routes, allowing riders to feel confident, relaxed and free to enjoy the stunning views. Our horses are easy to ride and are used to riders from all over the world, in long and shorter trails. You can book this tour for the adventure, the rhythm and adrenaline, so intermediate riding level is required.

What To Expect
Caravan Horse Riding Albania
Along the ride you will meet the rural life, cultivated land, pastoral atmosphere, former irrigation infrastructure, network of Cold War bunkers and numerous traces of collectivization time. The ride goes through the habitat of the Egyptian vulture, golden eagle and many other protected birds. A number of new villages bearing the names of fallen partisans during World War II were created in the ‘50s near the collectivized spaces and this is also the case for the village“ Asim Zeneli ”which continued to grow until the mid’ 60s. Along with the village, infrastructure was built to serve agriculture, the artificial lake of Cini, which is supplied by the inflows of several hilly streams. The lake of about 15 ha and a capacity of about 600 thousand m³ of water is still in operation. The view of the lake surrounded by the hill is ideal for photographing together with horses and herds of cattle. The 10 km journey ends at the equestrian center.

5.00Great ride with Kristina. We have been riding for a long time and she offered us a nice ride at our level. No problem. A pleasure to gallop in the mountain in front of gjirokaster. Feeling of total freedom as if we were in the steppes of Mongolia. Lovely horses.

3.00We booked a three hour horseback ride for experienced riders. In fact the tour took only one hour, without any galloping and river crossings etc. It turned out we were grouped with the beginners. The same happened to other people. Apparently the booking and the timetables of the beginner and the advanced rides have been mixed up. We did get a refund though. For beginners it is an easy entry into horseback riding.
