5.00We did our 2.5 hour private walking tour of Himeji Castle with Rie. She was an incredibly knowledgeable guide and her English was excellent. We were taken to the top of the Castle during the tour and there were 3 additional towers open during our visit which we went to. We learned about how and when it was built and gained an insight into all the measures included to prevent enemies invading. The castle is beautiful and its brilliant white exterior is striking. It is the centrepiece of Himeji. It has undergone a number of extensive renovations which was fascinating and it was covered in black during WW2 to prevent it being bombed. That it survived is a miracle. I would recommend this tour as you will gain much more from the guide than simply walking around on your own.

5.00Wonderful tour with Ryuji. Fantastic knowledge - he knows everything about Himeji Castle. Super patient and kind with our son asking a million random questions. A wonderful way to spend a few hours on a crisp winter’s morning. Can’t recommend this tour enough. We all came away having learnt something new about such an important part of Japan’s history. A very well-deserved five stars! Thank you also to Ryuji for the amazing restaurant recommendation afterwards.

5.00One of the best experiences with a tour guide. He very well showed and explained to me Himeji castle. Admission fee was 1000. However I visited on the day when it was free, on December 10th. It takes around 90 minutes to get a tour of the castle. Near to it is a zoo and a lot of souvenir shops.

5.00We had a fantastic private tour of Himeji castle with Ryuji. We were given an engaging history of the castle, the town and the owners of the castle. Ryuji was professional, witty and fun. We learnt so much about the castle. We also appreciated Ryuji’s recommendations for lunch and future destinations for us to visit.
