The 3D2N tour is possibly the best guided trip I’ve ever been on. From the start the team were friendly and helpful in organising the tour and provided all the info we needed to make the booking. In the day we were collected punctually and driven to the port where we met by Dessy and our incredible crew (Captain Dedet, Guide Ipung, Boat assistant Danu, and Cook Ira). We spent the next 3 days cruising along the river with Ipung pointing out monkeys, birds, and the occasional crocodile. The feeding stations were an amazing experience - Ipung had warned us that it’s always possible that orangutans might not show but on both days we were able to watch them as part of a small crowd, truly magical. Ipung also organised a night trek as well as a jungle walk on the second day. The plentiful meals on the tour were delicious and varied (I think we may have put on weight over the 3 days!). The bedding was comfortable and it was special to fall asleep listening to the river’s nature, and wake up to the sight of the forest. All in all an incredible experience and I’m glad we chose Orangutan Applause over other operators.

Incredible experience, our guide Tigu was so interesting (an extraordinary knowledge about Borneo’ orang-outan, but also birds, plants, Dayak’s culture…) and also funny and involved. The ship was very comfortable and the team so thougful. Thank you Dessy for let us discover this part of Indonesia

this was an amazing unique experience , staying on a houseboat and cruising through the national park. Loads of wildlife to see, amazing food , and great crew and tour guide !!! The crew were super attentive and we felt very looked after. We had fresh sheets every night which was not expected and a nice touch. Our guide, puun (not sure how to spell it!) was full of knowledge and we could feel how passionate she was about the flora, fauna and culture in borneo. We appreciated the food a lot as one of us is vegetarian and we had plenty of variety with the dishes served, which were delicious.

We loved our experience! What an adventure! First, Dessy took great care of us, making sure we had every detail cared for including a driver to pick us up from airport. Dessy was very responsive and communicated great over WhatsApp! Our tour guide’s name was Alan and he was sensational! He was so knowledgeable of everything and we felt so taken care of by him. We were nervous about spending two nights on the boat but the crew took such good care of us. We had a dedicated toilet/shower for us to use. The meals were AMAZING! We saw so many orangutans in the wild and at feeding places we lost count. Going in early January (during slow season) was special because we felt like we “owned” the river. We spent a whole month in Indonesia, but our 3 days in Borneo with this tour was our greatest joy! Highly recommend!!!

It is our first trip to Indonesia and visiting Borneo was planned as part of our experience. We were lucky to book the Orangutan Applause 2 nights/3 days river boat tour oferred by Dessy. We spent unforgetable hours with Uri, Hamda, Jedi and Agus cruising along the Sekonyer River in the Tanjung Puting National Park. We had encounters and fun wuth orangutans, macaques, colorful birds and butterflies, night trecking in the equatorial jungle, and other educational naturalist moments. All complimented with excellent tour guide Uri, fantastic cook Hamda, and remarkably skillfull captain Jedi and Agus - it was a holiday tour to remember. And there was a Christmas surprise dinner, too! Special thanks to Orangutan Applause and team - keep up the good works and we hope to see you again soon! Alex and Iva

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of touring on the river cruise boat . We saw plenty of wildlife along the way and it was good to see how the river culture operates. There was a good balance of activities, viewing the orangutans, going for a few forest walks and having some relaxing down time as well. It was surprising how calming it was cruising along on the boat for a couple of hours each day. Nikita was a wonderful guide to have. She was very friendly and welcoming and had a bright, bubbly personality. She made sure we were looked after at all times. She paid a lot of attention to detail, supplying us with umbrellas and cool face washers to keep us cool in the humid weather. Also had insect repellent and sunscreen for us if required. She was very informative about the orangutan project and the environmental and sustainable issues. She was also able to answer all of our questions. She gave us space when we needed it but was lovely and social when we wanted company. We found her very easy to get along with and she communicated with the other staff very well. Isul and Igul our boat captain and assistant were very good people also. Their skill level at manoeuvring the boat into its various locations was excellent. We felt very safe with them. They were attentive to ensuring we were safe getting on and off the boat and were warm and friendly. Tarmi our chef #was also happy and friendly and served us lovely meals. There was a lot of variety in the meals served. We never ate the same thing twice. There was plenty of food and drinks and it was all very tasty. We were served four dishes and fruit each meal. Highly recommend this experience. Thankyou to all of the team.

From start to finish it was an amazing three days spent cruising down the river, in the company of our beautiful klotok and knowledgable and friendly guide Vera She did everything she could to make sure we had the best experience ever, viewing the orangutangs, as well as all the variety of other wildlife along its banks The food was incredible, the crew were professional and the whole trip was something that we will remember for ever.

My partner and I travel a lot and despite the many amazing trips this had to compete with, this was hands down our favorite travel experience we've ever had and definitely the highlight of our monthlong trip to Indonesia. We saw too many Orangutans to count plus so many other types of wildlife. Aside from the wildlife, our crew was spectacular! My partner and I are still raving about some of the dishes Julia, our chef, prepared for us. We thought the food on the boat was amongst the best meals we had during our entire month long trip to Indonesia and we appreciated how accommodating the team was to our particular dietary restrictions. Augoos and JD, the deckhand and ship captain, guided the boat expertly, whenever we spotted wild orangutans on the river they'd skillfully rush to position the boat with the best possible viewpoint of the orangutans. Arif and Dessy, our trip organizers and the owners of Orangutan Applause, were so friendly and prepared and paid very close attention to our return travel logistics to ensure we made our return flights. Arif even met us at our boat launch to help us get oriented and was waiting for us when our boat returned, welcoming us back with a bag of treats. Best of all was our guide, Jeff, who we'd strongly suggest you request for your trip. Jeff is from a nearby village of just 200 people so he's intimately familiar with and deeply knowledgable about the nature you're exploring. He gives the perfect balance of providing information and context and letting you have a bit of time on your own to relax and take in the scenery. The boat itself was super comfortable, having seen a few other riverboat companies operating on the river, I definitely thought the boats from Orangutan Applause were the comfiest and best designed, especially because the boat we rode on had a roof deck with outstanding views and it seemed like most of the other companies' boats did not. All in all, I can't recommend this experience enough! If you're going to come all the way to Borneo to go on a river boat, Orangutan Applause is definitely the best tour company to go with!
