Had a fantastic 3D2N trip with Orangutan Applause — exceeded my expectations! The boat we were on was nicer than the pics provided to me before booking...beautiful hardwoods, very clean bathroom, and nicer than many of the boats we saw on the river. Our crew was excellent — Tour Guide Jordan, Captain Opi, Chef Marmie, and Deckhand Danny. I have Celiac Disease and they were very accommodating with this dietary restriction -- thoroughly checking all ingredients in advance for gluten. So much appreciated. We saw all kinds of wildlife from orangutans to proboscis monkeys, kingfishers, storks, and hornbills, etc. And Dessy (primary point of contact) was wonderful — she got us on a new flight when Batik Air cancelled our original flight out. Overall the trip was great, the crew was great, the biz is locally owned / operated...highly recommend Orangutan Applause.

We did the 3d/2n tour with the crew of Alanconda (guide), Yanah (amazing chef), Anang (captain) and Gilang (deck hand). It was an incredible experience and my big regret is that we didn't do 4d/3n. I was actually so sad to be leaving on the 3rd day. I really didn't want to leave. Alan met us at the airport day 1. As we were walking down the ramp outside, I noticed a guide in uniform with a backpack full of orangutan and other ape plushies and I said to my partner "I bet that's him!" And sure enough, it was! I really would have been so sad if we had seen him and he wasn't our guide. Alan was super enthusiastic from the start at that meeting at the airport and he maintained that level of enthusiasm each and every moment of the boat cruise. My partner and I have travelled quite a bit and Alan is one of the best guides we have ever had on a tour. He really exceeded expectations. The whole experience did actually. We were greeted by the owners of Orangutan Applaus at the harbour, Arif and Desi. Arif took us on a tour of our boat and Desi just came to greet us. Then Alan introduced us to our crew - Yanah (chef), Anang (captain) and Gilang ( deck hand). Everyone was 10/10 even though we couldn't speak much with Anang and Gilang they were always smiling and excited to be part of our experience. Yanah exceeded our food expectations as well. We are vegan and were very well catered for. The food was in abundance each meal and it was so delicious, I really don't know how she managed to prepare such good food on a boat In a tiny kitchen in the middle of the jungle. She even prepared a little special something for my birthday called Nasi Tumpeng. That was also unexpected and super special. Alan gave me a little gift for my birthday as well. We brought a bag full of snacks with us, because we are vegan, when we travel we always have snacks. Yea... That bag was left untouched. There was really so much food. The boat cruise was so relaxing and Alan and the crew were always spotting animals for us. We saw so much - wild orangutans, semi wild orangutans, long tailed macaques, stork billed king Fisher, crocodiles, hornbill, proboscis monkey, an amazing firefly tree, butterflies, broth bill, eagles, silvered langur, crestless fireback jungle chicken, Gibbon and so much more. Alan was equipped with binoculars for us and also rubber boots for our jungle walks. He also had raincoats for us, headlamps and was extremely attentive to all our needs and wants. We stayed at every feeding station until it was well and truly over, we were the last ones, and he just went with our pace. So relaxed, not rushed at all. At one point, there was a "floating island" lodged in the river and our crew tried for an hour to dislodge if. They really were exceptional. We also found out that the team at Orangutan Applaus is well looked after, the owners send them to conferences and education events to learn about wildlife. We really felt good about our decision to use them for this experience and I would 10000% go back and do it again for 4d/3n, especially with that crew and Alanconda as a guide. I really wish Alan all the best in his future as a guide. I hope he never loses his passion and enthusiasm and keeps the good vibes. Terima kasih Orangutan Applaus, and very special thanks to Alan and Yanah. Terima kasih ❤️🌻🙏

🇮🇩🦧An unforgettable adventure… The kindness and thoughtfulness of the entire crew: the captain, the sailors, and especially the head chef Ira who prepared all the delicious meals for us😋 Jeffrey, our wonderful guide, who is available and caring (the best). And Dessy, who facilitated our arrivals and departures, full of good advice. A charming and very professional team. I highly recommend this tour. I will definitely return with my daughter 💕🦧🌺

This trip completely exceeded all our expectations! I can't believe how much wildlife we were able to see in such a short time, it was truly amazing! This tour will forever be remembered as one of the most special experiences of our lives. Thank you Orangutan Applause for organising such an incredible tour for us! From the beginning Dessy was so helpful in planning all the logistics of our trip and even adjusted our itinerary short notice when we had a change of plan. Our guide Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much about the different species in the forest. Sam's enthusiasm, positivity and great sense of humour made the trip so enjoyable for us. Our amazing cook worked incredibly hard to provide us with a range of delicious, fresh meals each day, which was another real highlight of this tour for us. Our fantastic captain and deck hand ensured we were always safe, comfortable and well looked after throughout the trip and worked so hard to make everything run smoothly. The whole team together created such a happy atmosphere on the boat, we felt so well cared for and enjoyed every minute of our trip. Thank you all so much!

We made the cruise of 3 days and 2 nights on a beautifully appointed Klotok. We were greeted by Dessy who introduced us to the crew ( 4 people) and our guide Jeffrey. The 3 daily meals, made with local recipes and prepared by the cook Era, were excellent. The two crewmen , responsible for the service and cleanliness of the upper deck allocated to us, were very professional. The very skilful captain put us in confidence. Jeffrey is a great guide with a lot of knowledge of the flora and fauna of this area. If you choose this tour, ask for it. In short, we were pleased with the quality of service and the discovery of the orangutans’ place of life. Cruise to book without hesitation.

Orangutan Applause gave us one of the best travel experiences of our lives. The trip was perfectly organised, with the crew and guide constantly looking after us to make sure we had the most comfortable and relaxing experience possible. They were always attentive to wildlife sightings, always friendly, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The food was also really good. We also felt like we were treated by the crew and guide as part of the family throughout the whole trip, which made it even more special. If I ever go back to Tanjung Puting (which I’d love to), I would choose them again without hesitation. A solid 10 out of 10. (3D/2N for 3 people)
