Glencoe
The deep valley and towering mountains of Glen Coe were carved out centuries ago by icy glaciers and volcanic explosions. This spectacularly beautiful glen is still haunted by the infamous massacre of 1692 when the local inhabitants, the Clan MacDonald, were murdered by government soldiers whom they had previously welcomed into their homes for nearly two weeks. You can learn more when we stop at the Glencoe Visitor Centre. Situated in Glencoe National Nature Reserve, the dramatic scenery of Glencoe has formed a background location for films including Skyfall, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Forth Bridge
Scotland’s Forth Bridges are a wonder of the modern world and one of Scotland's most recognisable locations. The oldest of the bridges, The Forth Bridge, is now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site of unique global significance and interest. We pass over the latest constructed bridge, the Queensferry Crossing, bridging the historic settlements of North and South Queensferry. Opened in 2017, The 1.7 miles (2.7km) structure is the longest 3-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world. The "weatherproofing" design of this bridge means that there shouldn't be any closures and restrictions due to weather.
Loch Ness Region
Located southwest of Inverness, Loch Ness is the deepest freshwater lake in the UK. It is at the centre of dramatic scenery as well as the dramatic story of the Loch Ness Monster known as Nessie. We visit Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness Centre.
Stirling Castle
Considered one of Scotland' s most important historic sites, the castle peaked in importance in the 1500s. Throughout the Wars of Independence with England (1296–1356), Stirling was hotly fought over and changed hands frequently. Bloody battles waged nearby include: Wallace’s great victory over English forces at Stirling Bridge (1297) and Robert the Bruce’s decisive defeat of Edward II at Bannockburn (1314). The Castle was the preferred residence of most of Scotland’s later medieval monarchs, and most added something to its impressive architecture. Stirling Castle is a must-see attraction which we can visit en-route either on the outward or return journey through The Scottish Highlands, depending on your chosen route.

We were a group of 5 friends going on the 3-day Highland tour with Brian, who is a well-traveled and knowledgeable guide. He drove us safely back to our accommodation every evening, recommended scenic and practical itineraries and told us stories and trivia about Scotland and the world. We enjoyed the trip a lot thanks to Brian.
