Maputo Special Reserve was once known has The Elephant Reserve, and it is one of the “Pearls” that Mozambique has to offer. It was created in the 60’s and saw the animal populations decrease during the civil war. This magic place is reborn with a new strength. The animals are coming back, specially the Paquiderms, through eco corridors between South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique. The Reserve, one of the least known places in the World, will give you an unforgettable experience with the huge Landscape variety, where the Indian Ocean marine Ecosystems mix with the typical African plains and even dense forests.

Amazing tour in Maputo National Park

5.00We made a 4 day trip starting from Maputo and did stay in Membene (separate booking). Our guide and driver Simão did a perfect job, he has a great knowledge of Maputo National Park and its fauna and was always able to find animals in beautiful and remote spots, away from the other cars, with a lot of time to enjoy the view and take pictures. He has a very good knowledge of the fauna, respects the animals and explained us many interesting facts about the species we saw. The car (toyota landcruiser) was in good condition and comfortable, we were always on time and Simão drives very well on the tracks.

5.00We felt completely looked after with everything covered from the pick-up at our hotel to the drop-off at our next destination. The staff had an exceptional knowledge of the Reserve, and made sure our camping experience was extremely positive (with campsite set up, cooking and support with amenities). In addition to several trips around the Reserve to spot the wide variety of wildlife, itinerary also allowed for free time on the beach, a short walk from the campsite. Highly recommended.

5.00We visited Maputo Special Reserve and stayed at Anvil Bay Lodge, which was a great experience. You drive through the safari-park for approximately three hours looking for animals and seeing the fantastic nature. Then you arive at Anvil Bay, a small collection of houses nestled in the forest at the beach. A truly beuatiful place! Throughout our trip the guides where enthusiastic and personal and seemed genuinely interested in us having the best vacation possible.
