Start trekking, pick up guest from any hotel in Bukit Lawang, or pick up from Medan or airport 2 hours before. You will start your journey into the jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park to see wild orangutans. Will have dinner and stay overnight at Bukit Lawang campsite

This day, you have trek (6-7 hours), your guide will educate you on the local wildlife, flora and fauna you may encounter in Gunung Leuser. After lunch, you will continue your trek to see other wildlife (if you’re lucky you may see the Thomas’ leaf monkey, white-handed gibbon, black gibbon, long-tailed macaque, pig-tailed macaque, hornbills, peacocks and monitor lizards) and learn about the trees/plants which can be used in traditional medicine. On this trek, you’ll spend two nights at different campsites in the jungle.

Last day, you are free to enjoy the fresh water of the Bohorok river, swim and relax. Later on, you will leave the the river banks by traditional rafting boat (‘jungle style’) following the river downstream to the village and directly to your guesthouse.

5.00This was really an incredibly great experience! We have seen so many monkeys and learned so much about flora and fauna from yoga and bamboo. The camps on the river were like paradise, (even if you look forward to your bed at home afterwards) topped by fantastic food and game nights. The treks are quite demanding, but we felt safe at all times! Proud and happy to have experienced this with Sumatra Oranutan Treks!!!

5.00We had an amazing three-day, two-night trek - truly one of the best experiences of my travels. The whole team was fantastic from start to finish. They helped us organise smooth, hassle-free transport to and from the airport, and communication over WhatsApp was super easy - every question answered promptly. The hosts before and after the trek were so welcoming, and the hotel accommodation was beautiful. Our guides Jimmy and Arman were friendly, encouraging, entertaining and incredibly knowledgeable, tailoring the route to our ability and the animals we most wanted to see. We spotted so much wildlife, including orangutans, Thomas leaf monkeys, macaques, hornbills, snakes and more. The trek was tough at times, but completely worth it. The jungle chef cooked amazing meals, and the camps were cosy and well organised. The rafting was super fun and an amazing way to end the experience. Loved that this is a locally owned company - you can really feel the passion and care. Highly, highly recommend to anyone visiting Bukit Lawang/Sumatra! Thanks, Sam and Alex

5.00We had really impressive 3 Days in the jungle. Yoga and Bambang was our Guides. They were so kind and had so much knowledge about the jungle and the animals. Our food was very delicious and we had crazy nice time.

5.00We had a great time with our jungle trekking and even saw Orangutans and many other monkeys. Our guides Nurdin and Azri were very knowledgeable about the jungle and monkeys and took great care of us. They went out of their way to make sure we were always safe and comfortable and had a good time. The boys are very funny and I always felt safe as a female traveller! Thank you guys 🙏🏼

5.00Hello Everyone. I took the 2 night trip, everything was so smooth from the start to the end. I met the first day morning with the driver at hotel, and all was perfectly schedule by Andre, the supervisor of this tour. Then the driver drop me in the hotel, and this hotel is so nice, with good rooms, and especially amazing human. When I had a question everyone, help me, they drop me off in city center if needed and help me to accommodate well. After that I went to Bat cave, and it was just amazing with Ajri as a guide, he has a lot of knowledge about nature, history of Bukit lawan, and more he is a cool, funny guy. The day of trekking I was pick up by the people of Hotel, I took breakfast before, then I went to bukit lawan. During the trekking, our guide bob and Ricky help us so much that it was a really nice experience and smooth experience. We have seen a lot of Orangutans, like 5-6 with family, being so close to those animals that so amazing. Thank you you all for this human, funny and nice adventure. Thanks to Andre, Aldi, Ajri and all the others from the hotel orangutan treks sumatra. I will definitely will come again with friends, family or even solo. See you soon.
