Located in the western province of Rwanda, a country of thousand hills, The Congo Nile Trail is a 227 km trail along lake Kivu forming Kivu belt as it extends from Rubavu, continues through Rutsiro, then Karongi, up to Nyamasheke and ends at Rusizi District.
The 3 days walk will give you a memorable experience and most important get to know the beauty of Rwanda including Coffee, Banana plantations, fishing experience and learn more about the source of Nile River.

Day 1: Gisenyi (Brasserie) to Cyimbiri

Overnight at Cyimbiri Base Camp This is a guesthouse on the Congo-Nile trail, beautiful and quiet just on the lakeside.

Starting at 7:00 AM, we take a direction to Cyimbiri village, a trip that normally takes between 6 to 7 hours walking. On our way, you will enjoy the beauty of Lake Kivu, especially the landscapes, islands and not forgetting the agricultural activities including banana plantations, coffee, beans, and cassava)

Starting at 7:00 AM, we take a direction to Cyimbiri village, a trip that normally takes between 6 to 7 hours walking. On our way, you will enjoy the beauty of Lake Kivu, especially the landscapes, islands and not forgetting the agricultural activities including banana plantations, coffee, beans, and cassava)

This morning, you will walk for 2 hours up to the nearby fishermen village called Nkora whereby you will meet local community drying and sale coffee. You will proceed to Kinunu basecamp and on your way, you will be enjoying good voices of birds, fishing activities, landscape, banana and coffee plantations. Overnight at Kinunu guest house
Day 3: Kinunu to Congo Nile

Starting in the morning, you will walk for 8 hours up to Bumba basecamp, on your way, you will enjoy the landscapes and scenery around the lake Kivu, fishing activities and agricultural activities that include banana and coffee plantations without forgetting cassava and beans. Proceed to Kibuye, Gisenyi or Kigali

5.00Great experience. Guided by a perfect guide Alex. You are VIP and your wishes are important for him. Everything is perfectly organised. You have guest houses. If you need a porter for your luggage, they will find one for you. Its a good choice to start hiking in Africa. I will come back and will book again with Darius. Don´t hesitate to contact him before you start with all your questions. He can help you with organising for your special wishes. Pick up at the hotel., trail, etc. It´s your vacation.
