Monastery of Hosios Loukas
Our first stop is going to be the peaceful monastery of Hosios Loukas, representing the second golden age of Byzantine art (11th -12th century). Of special importance is its golden mosaic decoration and fine architecture.
Arachova
Aráchova is a mountainous village nestling picturesquely at the foot of Mt. Parnassós in Viotia, Southern Greece. It is the most cosmopolitan winter destination in Greece, a great favourite for passionate ski lovers and celebrities, or just first-time visitors who wish to relax in a dreamy mountainous setting with modern tourism facilities. Its modern ski resort, its close proximity to Athens, and its breathtaking mountainous landscape are the strongest reason why. Apart from the mountain activities, Aráchova is also famous for its bustling nightlife and as the favorite mountain resort of Athenians.
Delphi
Then we will leave for the site of Delphi, an ancient Greek sanctuary with a PanHellenic character devoted to the god Apollo. It acted as an Oracle and was thought to be ‘the naval’ the center of the world and continues to be a symbol of Greek cultural unity. The extraordinar location allows you to view the Greek mountains and two more sites, the Gymnasium and the secondary sanctuary of Athena Pronea.
Temple of Apollo
On location you will visit the mystical temple of Apollo where Pytheia spoke to the oracles, the ancient theater and the stadium.
Delphi Archaeological Museum
The site also has a museum where you will find the famous charioteer and Gold Ivory statue. Then we will set out for lunch at the current village of Delphi while viewing the mountains of Fokis.
Meteora
We will drive to Meteora travelling through the Greek mountains not taking the highway to see the real Greek countryside. Driving by the city of Lamia, we will rest at the town of Trikala, a central town of the area, for a Greek lunch or coffee then continue to Kalambaka. Ending up at the small town that is surrounded by the rocks of Meteora where we will settle at the hotel and later drive up around the hills for an evening photo tour on the towering rocks under the Greek sunset. Back in town you will have the rest of the day free.
Great Meteoron Monastery
On the following day we’ll start in the morning for a visit to the monasteries and a closer look at the holy rocks. On the rocks that are like suspended in the air (that’s what Meteora means) there is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox Monasteries still in use. Meteora combines natural beauty and cultural heritage a fact that make them a unique destination between the world’s monuments. The Great Meteoron is the biggest and most impressive.
Agios Stefanos
The Holy Monastery of Agios Stefanos is one of the few female monasteries of Meteora. The exact date of the monastery's construction is unknown but according to some evidence it was built in the 15th century. The beautiful wall-paintings of the Catholicon were executed in 1560. This is also the easiest monastery to access.
Roussanou Monastery
Visit Roussanou for a different view of the surrounding cliffs and the adjacent Monasteries. Follow the pathway from this monastery to the upper main road and discover an off-the-road panoramic view point spot that allows you to walk on bear rocks!
Battlefield of Thermopylae
We will visit the place where 10 years after the Battle of Marathon, King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans heroically faced the Persian army.
Kainotomiko Kentro Istorikis Enimerosis Thermopylon
In the historical centre of the site you will take joy in a 3D movie, travelling through time you will feel the presence of all who sacrificed their freedom, killed by a foreign conqueror.
Leonidas Monument
Completing the visit you will see the statue of Leonidas standing opposite Kolonos Hill where the persisting Spartans left their last breath.
We will have lunch by the sea at this beautifull village staring at the traditional fishermen boats under the greek sun.

Coming to Greece was one of the most incredible experiences my lady and I have ever had. I proposed to my now fiancé in Meteora on a mountaintop and Manos helped coordinate this with a photographer as well. Manos was kind and did everything in his power to make sure our experience was extraordinary. We are so grateful we were paired with him. He must be one of the best if not the very best tour guide in all of Olive Sea Travel. I would recommend to ANYONE! Thank you so much!

Our family embarked on the "Athens Highlights Half Day Private Tour" and the "3 Days Private Tour: Delphi & Meteora" package with Olive Sea Travel, even amidst the bustling summer holiday season. Both tours were exceptionally well-organized and meticulously planned – Thank you Dimitra! The 3 Days Delphi & Meteora experience provided ample time without feeling rushed. We were able to soak in the breathtaking landscapes at our own leisurely pace. The Athens half-day tour was efficiently compact. We kicked off the day by exploring the Acropolis during the early morning hours (7.30am). The remainder of the tour allowed us to traverse the city visiting the other notable sites. I would like to extend a SPECIAL mention to our incredible tour guide, ANDREAS. Without a doubt, Andreas stands out as one of the best guides I've had ever been with. During our journey, which included my elderly mother and my child, Andreas' presence made a profound impact. His local recommendations were invaluable, his friendliness, humor, and captivating background knowledge enriched our experience. His meticulous attention to detail was evident in every aspect of our experience. Even after the tour concluded, my family found ourselves missing his presence. We are tremendously grateful to Andreas for making our journey so incredibly memorable. I would strongly recommend Olive Sea Travel and especially Andreas.

We enjoyed this long-time wished trip thanks to the perfect organization provided by Olive Sea Travel. Communication with them was always easy and positive. Everything was as planned, transfers in and out, the trip to Delphi and Meteora assisted by a skilful Spanish speaking driver who made the best of our time in Greece. We recommend this company without hesitation.

I had the good fortune to be paired with Dem, a courteous, flexible, and skilled driver. The car, an Audi, was clean and comfortable with great air conditioning, thankfully. Olive Sea recommended excellent hotels-Nidimos in Delphi, and Meteoritis in Meteora. It was a memorable experience and a very comfortable and efficient way to travel. I would use this company again. Thank you Dem and Olive Sea.

Kia Ora, we were a mother / daughter duo travelling from New Zealand, my mother turned 81 on our second day of our trip. I could not recommend Olive Sea Travel more highly especially to organise details prior to our trip. I was a little nervous about booking a trip online from New Zealand, but I needn’t have been. Our driver Vasilis and our guide Eleni were so lovely, we even had them join us at Meteora for a drink and cake to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Vasilis was a great driver, making drop offs and pick ups at the various sites the easiest he could for my Mum. Eleni knew her history and shared it in a way we could easily understand and make connections between the sights we saw as well as the areas she knew we had been to the previous week. I’m a school teacher of 5yr olds and I had the class pet, Sammie G, with us and they joined in making sure I had some good photos with him too. He’s a giraffe backpack and writing a blog, google “Sammie G’s great adventure” and you will see more photos etc. So you have no need to be nervous, or second guess this company. We were unsure about paying extra for a guide and would highly recommend this option as she was able to go with us at each site and knew where to go, how different parts were connected etc etc. she was so worth the extra! Thank you Olive Sea Travel and Eleni and Vasilis, you gave my Mum a trip of a lifetime!
