That wa s a very interesting tour in a van to look after different animals of the island, especially for coastal brown bears, it was very early in the year but we saw one. We learn a lot about the community and the life of the people there , animals, climate change, which is here a themme to. Roundaboud is was a very intersting tour with John and Marilyn and we can recommend this to everyone. Karsten and Anett from Germany

We took a tour with John and Marilyn and had the best day of our Alaskan trip. We were met at the Excursion hub on Icy Point Straight and headed out as a small group in a comfortable van. Our biggest hope was to see bear. And we saw bear!!! John drove us around the area of Hoonah, along narrow roads and over rivers. Both Marilyn and John are local residents and were generous in sharing their knowledge about the community, history and culture. Marilyn gave us such a personal insight into her life, I could listen to that lovely lady all day. Their informative commentary was interspersed with questions about all of us and by the end of the trip it felt as if we were chatting to old friends. All the signs were there. We saw bear pee on the road, we saw fresh scat. We smelled bear on a walk along a riverside trail. We saw claw marks in the mud. This would have been exciting enough, but these two were determined we would get to see what we'd hoped for. Their persistence paid off and after a glimpse of a sow and her cubs, John drove us back to one of the river bridges. There, ambling towards us along the riverbank was a huge bear. We watched him chase and catch salmon, take it into the woods to eat, then return for more. We were totally mesmerised, for a good 20 minutes we didn't take our eyes off him. I'm not even sure we remembered to breathe! What a treat. We'll never forget this amazing experience, or the wonderful couple who generously shared so much of their time and their stories with us. These are local people who love their home and the wildlife they share it with. Take this trip and meet them for yourself. Thank you so much John and Marilyn.
