Our guide Sunny had a great knowledge of the history of Jewish WW2 refugee migration to China and the support of China for these people. Also her knowledge of all Jewish migration to China over history was enlightening. The Jewish museum is an excellent establishment with interesting information and collections of material and artifacts. Sunny also took us to the local synagogue and memorial park for the Jewish refugees. A visit to the amazing Peace hotel was another highlight. We highly recommend this tour with Sunny who as an ex English teacher had a wonderful ability to answer all of our questions and provide explanations for us.

We enjoyed this tour and learned a lot - we highly recommend it. Shanghai is a beautiful city, and this tour covers an interesting slice of its history in the 1930s-1940s that most people don’t know about. Our tour guide Annie met us at our hotel, took us to the important Jewish sites from that time in the neighborhood, and then pointed out the highlights as we went through the Jewish Refugee Museum together and gave us wonderful background on the exhibits. She is very knowledgeable and friendly, with excellent English. Annie also did a great job showing and telling us about the early areas the British settled in and then walking down The Bund with us. She adjusted well to our pace and interests. Finally, she helped out by calling a taxi for us at the end after the tour, since we hadn’t figured out DiDi Taxi yet. Annie arranged and paid for the taxis on the tour itself. Sunny was easy to work with to arrange the tour and answer questions. I’ve already recommended this tour to a friend!

It was a great private tour by Sunny - she picked us up from the hotel and took us to the museum, shul, little Vienna and Peace hotel. We really enjoyed it and museum is excellent! I also found a beloved family friend's name as one of the 20,000 refugees from Germany! It was a real highlight.

The Jewish walking tour of Shanghai is a valuable experience. Our tour guide Annie was knowledgeable and engaging. Besides the financial investments we learned about while walking the Bund, we learned a lot about the Jews of this incredible city. The Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum and the surrounding area are excellent. You do not have to be Jewish to take and appreciate this tour. It adds to the history of and development of Shanghai.
