Amazing guide and really fun trip. The guide had so many cool stories and helpful tips. Lots of time for photo breaks and never rushed. You can tell they want you to have fun and enjoy the day. They do all they can to make that happen.

The Fat Truck tour was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life! It was fun, educational, and breathtaking! We went in March 2026. Even though the temperature outside was -17 F, it was nice and toasty in the Sherp. (Note: In the fall, winter, and early spring, wear winter boots, extra socks and buy foot warmers because heat rises, and your feet WILL get cold. But other than that, you’ll stay warm with proper Winter gear.) My one critique for Fat Truck (since I’m confident that they read these reviews) is to tell their guests in the text they send the night before to only bring water, as that is the only beverage allowed in the Sherps. The main priority of the Fat Truck group was safety, and I felt that throughout the tour. I was a bit nervous about driving out on a frozen lake and frozen creek, but they explained how they choose the sites they do, and they know which areas of the lake and river to avoid for safety reasons. We saw 3 moose (a mom and baby and a singular female) and a snowshoe hare on our trip. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, but they did their absolute best to find them. They sent out a drone to get some great pictures of them - better than what we could get from the Sherp. The best part was that the drone video they make is included in the purchase! The video by itself was worth every penny we paid! They did a great job of balancing footage of us, the scenery, and the wildlife we saw to really recap our experience very well. We also went inside a small homestead cabin to experience what it would have been like to homestead in Alaska in the early to mid 1900s. While yes, the tour is expensive, it was well worth it! The men running the business were knowledgeable, professional, and safety-minded. We had a wonderful time!

Initially we weren't certain we wanted to do this tour because it's on the expensive side, so we called and spoke with Joel, the owner, about what the tour entails, safety concerns, likelihood of seeing wildlife, etc. He spent over 30 minutes chatting with us about the tour, his experience as a search & rescue worker and really put our mind at ease. Then we came to Alaska and spent 3 days in the Fairbanks area without seeing any wildlife. I drove around Healy...beautiful mountains, but still no wildlife. To be clear, there's never a guarantee of seeing animals in the wild, Joel was very clear on this point, but Joel, Tim, and Mark did everything to increase our chances and they delivered! Between two simultaneous Sherp vehicles and multiple drones scouting ahead for wildlife, we saw 2 adult moose and a cub. We also saw a snowshoe hare. We also saw beautiful mountain ranges from a perspective you won't see from the roadway, even if you visit Denali National Park. We got to ride over frozen rivers and lakes and see a historic WW2 era cabin and hear the unique history of it, as well as Alaska in general. The guides went out of their way to make the trip fun, safe, and informative. In the end, the tour was expensive, but a fantastic value for what you get. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area.

Great way to get off the beaten path. The Sherp vehicle is comfortable and provides a smooth ride out into the country. The staff is great. They made a video with a drone and sent it out to everyone. A great example of a small business sharing their experience and stories of the area.

This is a destination experience! You travel the off-road trails, cross dry and flowing rivers, and learn from experienced, expert guides. Meeting up with the wildlife is a random bonus. Don't miss this on your Alaska adventure.

This experience was the best part of our winter trip to Alaska! Joel was extremely attentive, took his time to tell us all about the history of the place, and took awesome pictures and videos of us and of wildlife (we saw 9 moose in our tour)! We also got an edited video with footage he took from his drone during the tour. Anyone coming to Denali should go on this tour!

Our family of three had an excellent time with Denali Fat Truck Tours. The weather outside was extremely cold, even for Alaska, but we were well taken care of inside the fat truck. While we didn't spot any wildlife this particular day, we did get to see beautiful Denali and enjoyed our visit very much. Would do again when back in this area of Alaska!
