Taste the red wines and white wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the oldest French appellation (created in 1936), but also the iconic appellation of the southern Côtes-du-Rhône.
The tour will take you to 2 domains located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation area, known to be among the oldest and/or most renowned of the appellation.
The particularity of Châteauneuf du Pape wines is also found in its diversity. Although the King blend remains the GSM (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre), French regulations allow the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation to produce the blend or mono-variety they wish, as long as the varieties used are included in the list of 13 varieties allowed in Châteauneuf du Pape.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape
30 minutes drive from Avignon Tasting in the first estate of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is one of the oldest in the appellation, built more than 300 years ago. There you will taste the famous reds of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but also the whites which represent only 5% of the production. This cellar has chosen to keep the traditional blend of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, namely the 13 grape varieties of the appellation (red and white) in the red wines, and the 6 white grape varieties in the white wines. Duration: approximately 1 hour. Then head to another historic estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one of the largest in the appellation. You will also try the red wines and white wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but with a more modern blend composed of the main grape varieties of the appellation (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre). Duration: approximately 1 hour. (Non-exhaustive description because it depends on the availability of cellars) 30 minute drive back to Avignon

We had a great wine tasting experience. Our guide was prompt, friendly, and professional. He had a good working knowledge of the region and selected excellent chateaux for the tastings. He was clearly well received by the staff at the wineries as well. Overall, it was an excellent 3 hour wine tour.

Our guide Arnaud was fantastic! He was local and had a great relationship with the wineries. Both wineries were great. Lots of tastings at the first winery and good sample sizes. The second winery had fewer tastings and smaller sample sizes. Overall great tour and fantastic guide in a true "bucket list" region for any wine lover.

If you’re wondering whether a semi-private wine tour in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is worth your time—yes. A thousand times yes. This was not just a wine tour; it was a deep dive into the holy grail of Grenache, Syrah, and sunshine-soaked vines. From the start, the tour was smooth and well-organized. Semi-private means you don’t get lost in a sea of selfie sticks—our small group felt intimate enough to ask questions, crack jokes, and bond over bold reds and crisp whites. (And yes, someone in our group tried to swirl every glass like a pro… points for commitment.) Our guide? Absolutely top-tier. Passionate, fluent in wine-speak and plain English, and somehow managed to make centuries of winemaking tradition feel exciting without sounding like a textbook. They knew every cobblestone, vine, and vintage like an old friend. If you're even slightly wine-curious, this is an absolute must. And if you're already a full-on wine nerd? Prepare to lose your mind—and maybe your heart—in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Our guide met us outside the Hotel Bistro and drove us the 30 minutes to Chauteau Neuf du Pape to visit the first vineyard. All the while, he shared the history of the places we were going to see that afternoon. The locations are stunning! Loved the history and bought the wine. You won’t be sorry.
