Doi Inthanon
Located in Chiang Mai Province, Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand, rising 2,565 meters above sea level. Doi Inthanon National Park has lots of amazing variations in its lush geography and forest. It is home to rainforest, mixed forest, and pine forest. The weather is cool throughout the year, especially in the cool season when there will be almost constant fog coverage all day and a stunning phenomenon of Mae Kha Ning or frost flower in the early morning.

This activity was amazing in every way. A full day to experience the country around Chiang Mai. We started at the elephant sanctuary spending a lot of time with 4 elephants who looked very happy and well pampered. We fed them, walked to the river with them and then helped cool them off. After a delicious lunch (pad thai and fruit) we went to Doi Ithanon park stopping at the highest point in Thailand. The scenery along the drive and at the top was stunning. We went next to the twin pagodas which were beautiful and surrounded by amazing vistas. The next activity was a 1.5 hour hike with our guide and two Hmong guides who were also very knowledgeable as they lived in the village where we ended up. The hike started in beautiful jungle along a river with waterfalls and ended up above terraced rice fields. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and nature

Very well organised and run trip. Lots seen in one day. The elephants of course were the star attraction. Would have liked a little bit more about points of interest as we travelled; eg.Huge white Bhudda oh hill, a little bit about villages passed through or the general area. Overall though a brilliant experience.

The hike was what made this. It was very enjoyable and culminated in a visit to a hillside community. Yes, they try to flog you stuff, but you are not obliged to buy anything. The visit to the elephant sanctuary was fun and the animals appear to be well looked after. The pagodas were not especially interesting but you are not there long and can get a coffee and an ice cream. You will spend close to the half of the day on the bus, which won’t suit everybody. Treat it as a sightseeing excursion. The guides were affable and helpful and had decent English. I am not sure why one of them brought a guitar for the hike. I’d say most people would rather listen to the sounds of nature than to the strumming of a self-appointed troubadour. When booking, I wondered if I was paying too much. But for a full day of three activities and with a lot of driving, I don’t think the price is unreasonable.

Amazing experience and a very well run tour! Wat and Mark (our guides) were both very friendly and well prepared. Our driver was also great. The elephants are so amazing and well treated by the staff. The hike was a blast. My only critique is that I wish we were allowed more than just 30 minutes at Doi Inthanon. I believe they cap visitor time at 30 minutes so that it doesn't get over-crowded.

We had a fabulous day. We were picked up and driven to the start of an amazing jungle trek. Our guide spoke excellent english, was very knowledgeable and interesting. We saw Gibbons swinging in the trees, waterfalls and rice paddies. We stopped at the coffee plantation for lunch and a chance to buy local products for gifts. Then we went to the beautiful King and Queen Temple complex before going to meet the elephants. This was an incredible experience. The elephants are roaming free in the field. They come over to be fed and interact. Such beautiful creatures, so well looked after. A truly wonderful interaction. I would highly recommend this trip.

Picked up right on time. Started off with a white knuckle drive including an unnecessary stop at a coffee shop ( someone must be getting kickbacks). Driver was very aggressive and unsafe in our opinion. If you’re prone to car sickness, this isn’t for you. First stop at elephant sanctuary was very good. Were able to feed the elephants for a long time. Small group meant for lots of individual time with the elephants. No need for bathing suit as we didn’t go in the water. Lunch was good and bathrooms were clean. Then another 1 hour drive up a hair raising, twisty mountain road to the peak. Visited highest point and 2 pagodas. Women need to wear long pants, but wraps are available to borrow. Another drive to trailhead for a 5 km hike. It’s probably a moderate rating, so wear proper shoes. It’s a good trail with lots of ups and downs and some very steep parts. Saw several beautiful waterfalls. Ended at a small village coffee shop for some coffee and tea samples. Some pressure to purchase items here. It was a 10 hour day. Overall, a good excursion, we gave it a 4 out of 5 because there was no “wow” factor, just a good experience.

Excellent and well organised tour. Not rushed at all. Our guide Sandy (?) and driver were very good. The stops for breaks were great. The elephant sanctuary was very good and we were given a background about all of the 4-5 elephants and all our questions were answered. An excellent lunch was provided. The trip to Doi Inthanon and hike were all well worth it. Pickup was around 730am and droppff was around 7pm. So it was a full 12hr tour day. But it was not rushed at all. This package was excellent value for money. Would highly recommend.

The elephant sanctuary saved the day and was the most precious part of the tour. Our guide spoke poor English and seemed uninterested in interacting with the group. He also didn’t tell us a lot about the things we saw. It became very clear as another guide (in Spanish) were there at the same time and comparison was possible. The hike is a 2,6 km walk in the jungle that takes 1,5 hours and ends up in a local village. The views were great though and it’s worth a visit, just have that in mind.
