During the Chinese Civil War in 1948, Chiang Kai Shek government evacuated the nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artefacts and artworks, from the Forbidden City to Taiwan. Majority of the collection is from Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, which provides an in-depth view of the beauty of Chinese history from the Neolithic to the modern era.
