That was almost perfect. From the first contact, we knew we were right here. Communication was always good and transparent. As a result, everything worked out great in advance. And then these great and nice people. From the arrival at the airport and in Kumai to the four days on the boat to the end of the tour. The boat was great. You have everything you need. It is clean and you have more privacy than you could imagine. The food was always delicious, fresh and varied. The crew just pays attention to everything. The way nature is treated and the way the trip takes place is incredibly good. You're not pushed into anything and you don't have to play a fixed program. We have seen everything you could wish for and imagine here. An unforgettable experience. Thanks. 🙏🏼

Wow, just wow :) I cannot recommend this orangutan boat tour more. We did the 3N/4D experience, and everything was perfect from start to finish. Our guide Vera was absolutely incredible— she had amazing energy, knowledge, and personality. We would frequently play card games or dance Zumba together in the evenings after a full day, and she genuinely made the already incredible experience even better :) We got to see 37 wild orangutans, and some of our highlights were the feeding stations, the jungle trekking (spotting cobras, pythons, spiders, crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, and more), and time spent with the crew on board. We were two female travellers, and we felt very safe and cared for. Additionally, we are vegan and the crew was able to accommodate us extremely well (delicious food every meal)! Thank you to our captain Jedi, our deckhand Ijul, and our chef Ijum. Additionally, we really appreciated how responsive and helpful Dessi was to communicate with— when our flight got cancelled, she gave us a heads up and helped us find a new flight to book. Can’t wait to return to the jungles of Borneo, 10/10 experience. If you are thinking to do this tour, do it :)🦧

I highly recommend this trip. It’s a great for photography as there is plenty of space on the klotuk (riverboat) to keep your camera at the ready while you relax and watch the reflections of ancient plants in the river or study it for the snouts of patient crocodiles. I saw more than twenty orangutans, not just at feeding stations but in the trees and swinging between them as well as on the foot trail. Along the river were dozens and dozens of proboscis monkeys, an alpha and his harem of females and kids, plus the rival group of bachelor males vying for their opportunity at procreation. Long tailed macaques brewed up trouble with their playful antics, one made off with our bananas by leaping to the river and swimming across to the other side. A lonely charismatic white cheeked gibbon swung through the trees like a child’s toy. Many birds are visible, lots of kingfisher species and storks and croaking hornbills and other technicolor dream coat varieties flying and singing overhead. The boat is comfortable, much like a house, with plenty of space to store your stuff and a comfy bed to sleep on with a mosquito net. There is your knowledgeable guide, a helpful deck hand, the skilled captain and the cook who made three wonderful meals a day. (Guide Vera, Cook Ira ,Capt Dedet, Boat assistant Agus) They make sure you are very well taken care of. We did short treks (about two hours each) during the day to see animals and plants like pitcher plants or fungi or local medicinal plants, plenty of cool insects, the most colorful and varied butterflies you’re likely to see anywhere, truly kaleidoscopic, giant ants matching, industrious termites, and moths. At night we trek hunted for nocturnal species and found frogs, lizards, spiders and mouse deer. The ammoniac whispers of the nocturnal tarsiers were everywhere. Only the creator who fashioned this rainforest and its denizens via evolution knows what is was truly like over the last hundred million years. But floating along the tea black river will at least give you glimpse of the forgotten eons of time, like shaking the hand of a centenarian and looking into their ancient eyes. Dylan

This activity was amazing and I would strongly recommend the 4 over 3 day itinerary. We were collected from the airport by our guide for the trip Ana who was great throughout. She really made our trip special. Her and the rest of the boat crew were very friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife we saw and the local areas. Furthermore they were committed to make sure we got the best out of the experience, at one point even getting involved in clearing a blockage in the river to ensure we could see all parts of the trip they had planned. In addition the the obvious highlight of the tour, seeing plenty of Orangutans, we also got to experience extras that the team had planned that we were not expecting. These included various activities with rangers and people from the local village. From talking with the owners of the company at the end of our trip it was clear that on top of running the business they wanted to ensure that the local community also benefited from tourists visiting the areas. Overall a great experience that I could not recommend enough. A special thank you to Ana

We booked a 4D/3N tour with Orangutan Applause, and honestly, it was an excellent experience from start to finish. From the moment we were picked up at Pangkalan Bun airport, we felt we were in very good hands. The whole trip was well organized yet pleasantly relaxed, allowing us to really enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. The wildlife encounters in Tanjung Puting National Park were fantastic - not only at the orangutan feeding stations, but also during our time cruising up and down the Sekonyer River, where the crew spotted many animals we would never have noticed ourselves. The food on board was surprisingly great and gave us a wonderful introduction to Indonesian cuisine. Special thanks to our guide Sam, whose deep knowledge of Kalimantan’s wildlife was impressive - every question we had was answered thoughtfully and in detail. All in all, this was a memorable and very well-run tour, and I can recommend Orangutan Applause without any hesitation.

I was traveling with a friend and did the 4-night, 5-day tour. The strongest highlight of the trip was the guide. His name was Alen (or Alenconda), and without exaggeration, he was one of the most unique wildlife guides I’ve ever had. He was extremely thoughtful—on a level I’ve never seen before in any guide. What really made him stand out was his upbeat, positive attitude and his incredible sense of style and fashion. He constantly changed his outfits and accessories and even wore wigs and outfits that incorporated plush animal toys, which made the whole experience so much fun. Hanging out with him felt like spending time with a real-life anime character mixed with Indiana Jones. On top of that, he had surprisingly strong knowledge of the wildlife and a sincere interest in our group’s happiness. The second major highlight was the food. I’m vegan, so I was a bit worried there wouldn’t be many options, but the food ended up being incredible—not just for a wildlife tour, but by any standard. The chef was absolutely amazing. The main downside of the trip was how controlled some aspects of the tour were. We had just come back from Sumatra, where the experience was much more primitive and remote. There, you were far more one-on-one with the orangutans, and the hikes were endless—from sunup to sunset—very physical and demanding. In Borneo, everything was timed, and you were almost always viewing animals in larger groups. The experience was much more comfortable and easy, so it really depends on what you’re looking for. That said, if you decide on Borneo, I don’t think you could possibly find a better company. The food, the staff, and the way the company was run were the best I’ve ever experienced, and I do a lot of wildlife travel. They were also very respectful of the animals. Final note: if you are a super fun and super cool adventurous person, request Alen as your guide—you won’t be disappointed. Also, request the vegan food; it was outstanding.

I don't score anymore because you can't. It was AMAZING. I think it couldn't have been better, really. A great success to have contracted the tour with them: we stayed longer than other companies seeing the orangutans (which allowed us to see them at different times or distinguish behaviors), we did trekking and we could see them also outside of the mealtime... And, on top of all that, the experience on the ship of 10. We have come out very round from so much eating and in addition to the amount all very good, the boat always clean, and the team worrying all the time that we were comfortable and not missing anything. Thank you Jordan, and the rest of the team for making the experience so much more beautiful 😊

This is an amazing tour! Our guide, Guh, was fantastic. We saw so many Orangutans and monkeys but also tons of other really cool wildlife including the elusive Sun bear! Cruising on the boat down the river is so beautiful and relaxing. Food was excellent, and the boat is really nicely set up. The bathroom is surprisingly nice and we very much enjoyed our showers at the end of each day. There are a number of companies that run these tours. I think Orangutan Applause stands out for the personal service from Dessy and Arif (the owners) and the excellent guides they have hired. Going in the rainy/low season worked out really nicely for us. Only a few boats on the water and it only rained a bit at night for our trip. I think the summer time when it's high season you will see a lot more boats/people.
