Mount Meru

We will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and head to Momela Gate. We will begin our walk after completing a brief registration at the gate. For safety, you will be accompanied by a fully armed ranger. Along the route, you may encounter various wild animals, such as zebras, giraffes, monkeys, antelopes, elephants and buffaloes.

Mount Meru

The climb from Miriakamba Hut to the saddle below Little Meru is short but steep. You will enjoy a slow walk along the ridge, which offers spectacular views of the Meru Crater and the impressive Ash Cone. Lunch will be at Saddle Hut, and afterward, there is a possible short climb to the summit of Little Meru (3,820m/12,500ft) for breathtaking views just before sunset. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Saddle Hut.

Mount Meru

The climb begins early at around 1:30am, taking us to Rhino Point (3,800m/12,480 ft) and then onward to Cobra Point (4,350m/14,271 ft). There is a possibility of reaching the summit (4,566m/14,980ft) in time for sunrise, allowing for a chance to see the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro above the clouds. The final stretch of the climb features a spectacular narrow ridge line bordered by sheer inner cliffs and the crater's sloping outer wall. We will take a short break for brunch at Saddle Hut before descending to Meriakamba Hut.

Mount Meru

You will descend quickly from Meriakamba Hut through open grassland and mixed forest. There is a chance of encountering wildlife during the descent. You will arrive at Momella Gate in the late morning, where a return transfer will be waiting to drive you back to your lodge. This concludes the trek, and you can return to Arusha for a well-deserved rest.
