We had a fantastic experience in Flores thanks to Filan and his team. Filan was flexible to accomodate all our needs and customize the trip for us. We enjoyed the Komodo national park tour with snorkeling and visiting the Komodo dragons, as well as treks through villages and rice fields up in the mountain. All perfectly organized. Thanks Filan!

We had a fantastic 4 day tour of Flores Island with Filan travel. Our guide Ino and our driver Roberto were fantastic. The SUV is very comfortable and Roberto is a great driver and a total gentleman. Ino is a very knowledgeable guide and an extremely interesting person to chat too, we really enjoyed our conversations across the four days. The days were well planned out and each of the stops were quite different from eachother. The accommodation throughout the trip was clean and very friendly and the lunch / dinner spots were great. It was a very memorable trip and we are glad we chose to go with Filan travel!

We spent four unforgettable days exploring Ruteng and the surrounding area with Filan of Filan Travel, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Filan is a fantastic driver—confident and calm on Flores’ rugged roads—and his clean, air-conditioned SUV with seat belts was perfect for the terrain. He speaks excellent English, communicates clearly, and has a great sense of humor, which made every day enjoyable. What really stood out was Filan’s deep love for his island. A Ruteng local, he brings cultural sites to life and tailors each day to your interests. We visited the amazing spider rice fields, the Puu traditional village, the Liang Bua cave (home of Homo floresiensis), and a mission where women learn traditional weaving and coffee roasting skills. At our request, he organized a scenic hike through small villages where we saw daily life up close—including a woman harvesting and preparing palm fronds for mat weaving using age-old techniques. Each night, Filan took us to a different local restaurant, giving us a real taste of Ruteng. Our eco-lodge was also lovely, set in lush gardens with warm, welcoming staff. Filan’s knowledge, flexibility, and warmth made this trip truly special. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful 4 days as Filan took us into the center of Flores on unbelievable curvy roads. We hiked, visited traditional villages and spent time with the local people. We stayed at the Ara Garden hotel, a small eco lodge. Each day after breakfast Filan would pick us up in this air-conditioned suv and we would set out to see the local sites. He was perfect for finding local restaurants for lunch and dinner as he seemed to know everyone. Filan spent a lot of time teaching us about the region and he was great to spend time with. By the 2nd day we were all fast friends.

I spent 4 and a half days with Filan around Flores (Wae Rebo, Ruteng, Bajawa, Riung). The first approach with Filan was honestly not the best (cell phone empty, he had no idea we had to go to Wae Rebo, he immediately asked me for a large sum for gas) but then, as the days went by, I revalued him enormously. Filan is an exceptional driver, always on time, very attentive to the road that in some stretches was really in poor condition. I really enjoyed the proposal to eat with his family and the trek through the rice fields that starts right from his home. He helped us to plan the boat tour with camping in Riung (beautiful) and to contact a guide who explained the traditional villages of Bena and Tolulela. Filan is a very smart guy, with a very good network of acquaintances in Flores, I very much hope that his project to open a business in his village can come true. It just needs to improve a little bit in the approach and in some attention to the customer (probably there are also cultural divergences that you can not grasp). I absolutely recommend it.
