What To Expect
Meiji Jingu Shrine
Meiji Jingu Shrine is one of Tokyo's most iconic and significant Shinto shrines, located in Harajuku. We'll walk together to the main building of Meiji Jingu Shrine while learning about the culture and history. We'll also learn about some Japanese traditional rituals.
Takeshita Street
Following the Meiji Jingu Shrine we will head to Harajuku, taking the famous & colorful Takeshita Street. Takeshita Street is a bustling and iconic shopping street located in the Harajuku district of Tokyo and tons of shopping & food opportunities. (Find rainbow cotton candy or poo ice cream)

5.00We spent a whole day with Jero from Shimy Tours – and can really recommend it without restriction. Actually, we only wanted to book a 4-hour tour at first. Fortunately, we changed our minds and chose the 8-hour tour. Looking back, that was exactly right: Tokyo is so versatile – and Jero knows how to show off this diversity perfectly. In addition to the famous sights, it also takes you to small, hidden places that you would never have discovered on your own. That's exactly what you need more time for. Our day began in Nihonbashi with exciting insights into the Bank of Japan and the Torch Tower construction site. Afterwards, we headed to the beautiful eastern gardens of Tokyo Imperial Palace with the impressive remains of Edo Castle. A real highlight was the lunch in Ueno: Our tip – book the tour including lunch! For a small extra charge, Jero takes care of an authentic restaurant serving typical Japanese food. We had fantastic Gyukatsu – a treat! We continued through the lively market street Ameya-Yokochō to Asakusa. There, one highlight followed another: from Azuma Bridge to the imposing Kaminarimon, the historic Nakamise-dori, the impressive Hōzōmon and Sensō-ji. In between there were always small culinary stops – for example the famous Melonpan from Kagetsudō 😋 – and in the evening we ended the day relaxing in Hoppy Street. Jero is an outstanding guide: extremely knowledgeable, flexible, personable and with a great sense of what interests his guests. Clear recommendation: Book 8 hours and take lunch with you – it’s absolutely worth it! 🙌
