This small town was relatively remote but brought to fame by the almost extinct Mekong River dolphins. The best spot to watch the dolphins is at the Kampi village, 15 km north from town. Dolphin watching is a very popular activity. It is estimated that there are less than 80 dolphins left and the best time to see them frolicking, sometimes in large groups, is in the late afternoon.

It has been a tuk tuk ride to two sights. Pick-up from a hotel to which I was also taken back. You could certainly have booked this tour on the road in front of my hotel. So, of course, it was convenient for the driver to wait. (But I have always had this experience in Cambodia). The driver was nice and polite. The price is reasonable

I booked through Tripadvisor, only got a ticket and no contact or other info. My bus was delayed, so couldn’t call or message anyone. I messaged my hotel and they told the driver I was delayed. The driver left and didn’t returned. When I arrived around 15min later, there was no one and after an hour and a half the driver came back. In the mean time I already booked a new tour which I had to cancel. Costed me $5. Than we went on the tour and we did nothing special and still had to pay the boat myself which I thought was included. If you go by yourself you pay $10 for TukTuk and $10 for the boat. The only thing we did extra was a temple which has no entry fee. Total costs now over $50. Would def recommend not to book the tour!!!

The trip was pleasant and we had a wonderful hour on the river watching the dolphins. We were pleased we took a boat to see the dolphins as it was quite windy and kayakking would have been difficult in those conditions. Unfortunately the advertised 4 hours was barely 2.5 hours and we would have been better to hire any tuk tuk to take us to the dolphin pool and the Phnom Sambok pagoda for much less than the AUD$65 we paid for this tour plus US$10 each for the dolphins boat. Our driver was friendly and had reasonable English but didn't offer much information......just a driver, not a guide. A lesson to ask the hotel for information rather than go online.

Honestly, Dophin watching/homestay was amazing. It was a whole Cambodia experience. Cute home, amazing day exploring the local areas of Kratie, Dophin watching, amazing tour guide! I am so so grateful for meeting this gorgeous family. It's a must do experience! 😄♥️ 'Dolphin Homestay' Kratie, was the name of their company 😀

He picked us up at 1:20 p.m. and finally brought us back at 4:00 p.m.... We started off by motorboat which was very noisy to see the dolphins we saw , barely seen because I think it was too early , We visited a Buddhist temple for a total of 60 dollars for two . If you have a scooter you can do it yourself. You will gain value for your money. Knowing that Kratie is small.
