Our Yellowstone Lake kayaking sunset tours offer a truly unique experience, away from the crowds of Yellowstone. Firstly, we take pride in providing the smallest group sizes on the water, ensuring a more intimate and personalized adventure. This allows for an immersive and engaging experience as you navigate the stunning Yellowstone Lake. The combination of the serene waters, thermal features like hot springs, and occasionally witnessing geysers erupting from the vantage point of a kayak creates an incredibly cool and memorable experience.
Our Level 3 ACA rescue guides are top professionals in their field, their expertise adds depth to the tour as they share insights about the lake, its surroundings, and the unique geological features you encounter along the way.
Please note that this sunset adventure may be canceled more frequently than our morning trip due to weather conditions. However, when the weather cooperates, it showcases the magnificence of the Yellowstone Lake at sunset.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Bring warm layers and non-cotton layers of clothes as the water temperature could take up to 38 degrees. No jeans, please
Kindly bring extra clothes and a towel and leave it in your vehicle in case you get wet
Not recommended for people that don't exercise regularly especially in a single kayak, tandems are better for people worried about paddling 5 or 6 miles, please message if you would like a tandem

We have water bottles, but if guests are able to bring their own water please do
Level 3 ACA certified guide to ensure your safety (only company that has this certification)
Splash Jackets if needed, paddle gloves when it is cold, and light fiberglass paddles
Dry boxes for phones and keys, dry bags for extra layers, dry bags for cameras
We have both single and double kayaks. If you book singles and want a double please message us
Cliff Bars, Fruit Leathers, fruit snacks, other nice snacks for before and/or during tour
Sun protection options such as spf 50 drink and bring water, sunglasses, and hat
inhalers, epi pens, insulin and anything else on might need out in the wilderness
gratuities for guides for a job well done is much appreciated but not expected

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

5.00Our sunset trip was amazing. Our whole party only had minimal experience (we've gone canoeing before but not kayaking), but it was relatively simple to get the hang of. The water was calm, and our guide, Hickory, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and had great information about the lake, Yellowstone, and other interesting bits of information and stories. The experience was well worth the price, and we're so happy we went.
Had a blast! Would do it again in a heartbeat!

5.00This kayak tour was great! I went on my own for the sunset trip and had a blast! The guide was great, and he explained basic techniques in the beginning which helped a lot! He had everything we needed and had lots of information about Lake Yellowstone and kept the tour very interesting.

5.00We loved our evening kayaking on Lake Yellowstone! I’m so glad we discovered this fun adventure. Our guide, Spencer was great; well versed in Yellowstone factoids and happily encouraging. I had kayaked before but not on sea kayaks and they differ from IK’s so there was a little learning curve, but I got the hang of it pretty fast. I’m a woman in my late 60’s and managed the trip myself even when the wind picked up so I encourage people to check this great trip out! Well priced and such fun!
Absolutely a blast! Spencer was great. He helped us technically while making the trip entertaining and informative.

5.00I went on the sunset kayaking tour with guide Spencer. He is top notch! He's attentive and interacts with everyone, also provided safety tips for hiking or doing other activities in Yellowstone. I enjoyed listening to the history and events of the park. The entire experience was beautiful and relaxing. I got to see an American bald eagle and the west thumb hot springs up close. I highly recommend this tour!

Matt, our guide, was knowledgeable, laid back, and very confident the entire trip. He definitely helped make memories. I will definitely endorse this adventure and this company to all who are interested. Thank you to all involved that helped check off another adventure on my bucket list. Great experience all around.

His instructions before and during the tour were clear and with a strong safety mindset (there was a chance for thunderstorms, but he had multiple contingency plans ready). He also used humor to lighten the mood and get people excited about the paddling the West Thumb. During the tour, he educated the group about the history of the lake and some of the things that makes this place so special. Spencer’s attitude and knowledge of the lake made the trip that much more fun. This was a great way to spend a few hours and get a different point of view of the hydrothermals you normally wouldn’t see from the shore or boardwalk. Book today!
