Journey into the wilds of Alaska on a unique family-friendly treasure hunt aboard an off-road vehicle driven by our trained guide. Set out from Healy for this 3-hour guided adventure and work together searching for hidden clues, seeking out quartz and granite rocks, and exchanging geocache treasures, which results in a take-home souvenir. Learn about local history, flora, and fauna and refuel with a traditional back country meal.
Please let us know when booking if you are driving yourself or if you need to be picked up at your hotel choice. The pick up time at your hotel is the listed booking time. If you are driving yourself to our location plase arrive 15 minutes later. We are located at 1.2 Mile Otto Lake Road, turn onto Otto Lake Raod at Mile 247 off the George Parks Highway.

What To Expect
Black Diamond Resort Company
Enjoy complimentary transport from your Healy hotel to Black Diamond Resort Co, where you’ll embark on a family-friendly backcountry treasure hunt. After a short safety briefing, you'll hop aboard your own Polaris Ranger, outfitted with seat belts, a windshield and cover. It’s similar to a small open-air Jeep but sports the exciting flair of an ATV. Then, head out into the wilds of Alaska with your professional guide. Navigate the back country trails, searching for hidden secrets, granite rocks, and additional clues that bring you closer and closer to finding your treasure: a rustic pavilion in the woods where a camp-style meal awaits. Traverse old mining paths that spill out onto the Dry Creek River Bed, stop on a whim to take in the surrounding scenery, or walk along the tundra and travel up the side of Black Diamond Peak for spectacular views of the Healy Valley — all the while working together to strategize and plan your next moves.
Your guide also fills you in on local history, culture, flora, and fauna throughout. Soon, it’s time to reap the benefits of your treasure hunt: a delicious and hearty meal. Morning tours include a lumberjack breakfast with fresh-baked biscuits and gravy, reindeer sausage, flapjacks and more, while afternoon and evening tours feature mouthwatering ribs, steak, chicken and even fresh-caught Alaska salmon. Juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and adult beverages are also available. Your tour concludes with hotel drop-off.

High Hopes, Big Disappointment

3.00We had great hopes as we enjoy UTV riding and we’re excited about exploring the area. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. While the staff and our tour guide Robert were friendly, if you are wanting a ride experience, this is probably not the excursion for you. There was very little riding. We would go a short distance then stop for a while, repeat, repeat. In the 3 hours, maybe 45 minutes of riding. In addition, the UTV windshield had not been cleaned, making it difficult to see out.

5.00Had a great experience. Andrew was our driver/ guide He took us to an abandoned cabin and stopped so we could look for Alaskan Wishing stones. Had a very nice dinner. Andrew is a very nice young man and would highly recommend this excursion.

5.00Highly recommend booking with Black Diamond! We were struggling to find things to do with our 5 and 3 year old in Denali and the treasure hunt was phenomenal! Our guide, John, was so patient with the kids and made it extra fun for them - finding them rocks in the creek, going fast through mud puddles, checking on them with the speed..everything about it was awesome! As parents we learned a lot about the area and the history. The meal was also very well done. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable but John was a great guide, our girls were telling everyone about the ride and him!! If you’re in the area with kids (or without) don’t skip booking a Black Diamond experience!

5.00We just finished our ATV Treasure Hunt Adventure. Our guides Robert and Gadiel were amazing. We took 4 of our grandkids on this tour. 3 of the boys recently suffered the loss of their father (our son), so our goal as their grandparents was to give them an adventure and some happy memories with us and their cousin. Robert and Gadiel exceeded all of our expectations and hopes for a great time! One of the boys was a bit fearful at first but Robert was patient and so skilled at making him comfortable and anxious for more speed and puddles by the end of the tour. We cannot thank them enough for the best adventure ever for these 4 boys and us, their grandparents!

5.00Gunther with Black Diamond ATV tours provided a fun and informative trek in the back areas outside Denali. The views were amazing and Gunther added personality and interesting details about the mountain ranges, the rocks and minerals, and life in general. We felt fortunate to have Gunther in particular taking us out and about, hearing stories and his experiences. Lunch was delish! And, so much of it, too! The time flew by and we were thrilled with our outing! Thanks, Gunther!

5.00The side by side tour with a guide, the Black Diamond Treasure hunt with dinner was fantastic and fun. The employees seem to all have a good time! Gunther was absolutely the best! He is a careful driver, giving us the level of ride we asked for. He stepped it up when we were more comfortable and asked him to. The food couldn't have been better. It's the best we've had on our Alaskan trip!

5.00Exceeded expectations of wilderness fun. For a group that wanted action, the six seater driven by a skilled guide who had intimate knowledge of routes, bumps, puddles etc. was a great selection. Ross had it all, driver skill, deep local knowledge and just a great guy to be an adventure leader. The lunch in the remote trail system was amazingly one of the best meals of our ENTIRE CRUISE TOUR.
