Dorze Village

After pickup from Arba Minch Airport, drive to the Chencha Highlands to visit the Dorze Village. Travelers will explore the famous bamboo houses shaped like elephant heads and learn about the Dorze people’s unique culture and traditions. You will see traditional weaving demonstrations, interact with local families, and experience daily village life. Guests will also have the opportunity to taste local foods such as kocho and traditional Ethiopian dishes.

Arba Minch – Jinka via Konso

Turmi

Visit a traditional Hamar village near Turmi and experience one of the most iconic cultures in the Omo Valley. Upon arrival, travelers are welcomed by local community members and guided through the village by an experienced guide who explains the daily lifestyle, social structure, and cultural values of the Hamar people. You will observe traditional homes made from natural materials, see how families live, cook, and farm, and learn about their strong cultural identity and customs. The Hamar are well known for their unique traditions, including cattle-based livelihoods, colorful body decoration, and ceremonial practices that mark important life events. During the visit, travelers may also witness demonstrations of traditional dress, hairstyles, and cultural expressions that are passed down through generations. Visit the fascinating Karo tribe along the scenic banks of the Omo River, one of the most culturally rich regions in southern Ethiopia. The Karo people are well known for their extraordinary body painting, which they create using natural pigments such as white chalk, yellow mineral rocks, and red ochre mixed with butter or animal fat. Each design is unique and often represents beauty, identity, celebration, or social meaning. During the visit, travelers will walk through the village with a local guide who explains the Karo way of life, including fishing, livestock herding, and small-scale farming along the river. You will have the opportunity to observe traditional homes, interact respectfully with community members, and learn how art and culture are deeply connected in their daily life. Cross the Omo River by traditional local boat or bridge (depending on conditions) to reach the Dassanech tribe near Omorate, one of the most southern communities in the Omo Valley.
