Tarangire National Park
Today we’ll be showcasing the often-overlooked Tarangire National Park, which we’ll reach by travelling west from Arusha for about two hours. The park is a nature lover’s dream, especially in the green season when its tremendous baobab trees are resplendent with emerald leaves. And if you’re visiting during the dry season, you can expect to see truly enormous herds of buffalo, wildebeest, and zebra—often numbering in the thousands. But no matter when you visit, Tarangire is perhaps best distinguished by its resident elephant population. These massive animals can always be relied upon to deliver a first-rate encounter in Tarangire. After finishing our all-day game drive and picnic lunch, we’ll settle in at the Suricata Boma Lodge just outside the park .

Serengeti National Park
After enjoying our morning coffee or tea, we’ll head out for the far-reaching plains of the Serengeti. We’ll be travelling for approximately four hours today, but much of that time will be spent in the wildlife-rich environment of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. When we reach Serengeti National Park, we’ll concentrate our game drives in the Ndutu region of the southern plains, famous for its year-round population of predators. The Ndutu area also happens to host the stunning wildebeest and zebra migration each year from December to March. This means that you’ll have the rare opportunity to see newborn wildebeest take their first steps, only minutes after they’re born. Later this evening, we’ll get settled in at the Ndutu Bush Camp, where we’ll spend the next two nights.

Serengeti National Park
The spectacle of the Great Migration is the star of the show in the Serengeti, and the wildebeest here synchronize their births during the months between December and March so that there are too many calves for predators to catch all at once. Thousands of the antelopes are born every day at this time of year, and this sudden influx of easy prey tends to attract the big cats of the Serengeti: lions, leopards, and cheetahs. We’ll spend the entire day in the park, stopping for a picnic lunch within sight of the herds. Tonight, we’ll return to the Ndutu Bush Camp, to enjoy dinner before comparing notes with other travellers around the campfire.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After treating ourselves to breakfast while watching the splendid Serengeti sunrise, we’ll enjoy one more game drive as we make our way out of the park en route to Ngorongoro Crater. This short trip takes only about two hours to cross the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater itself was formed millions of years ago by an erupting volcano—today, it’s a natural haven for all sorts of wildlife, including Africa’s Big Five. There’s no better reserve in Tanzania to find the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and black rhinoceros all in one place. But there are also many other animals to see here, such as spotted hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and more than 500 different kinds of birds. After leaving the crater tonight, we’ll check in at the stylish Eileen’s Tree Inn nearby Karatu.

Super safari of 8 days organized by Joel, a very professional interlocutor, very responsive and attentive, via WHATSAPP; no complaints about the choice of lodges and camps, picnics with tablecloth and glasses on foot... Our driver Chabani knew how to show us many animals in their environments and we appreciated very much his kindness. Agency to consult without fail!

Magnificent trip organized by Joël from chalema Tanzania! Far from the large companies well established in the country Joël offers stays with a company on a human scale, a unique contact! We had an unforgettable stay in the company of friends, our guide, as well as Eric, our chef! High quality service, a wonderful, friendly team always ready to help!! It is with great pleasure that we will return one day to this magnificent region of the northern reserves and it will be without hesitation with the same team!!! Thanks again to Joëlle and her team for the proposal that was more than complete and faithful to the program! Good mood, sumptuous landscape and animals galore!! 5 stars!

Me and my wife did the safari together for our honeymoon in July. We did the tour with Shabani, which was a kind, patient and amazing driver. We got lucky and had the chance to witness everything we were expecting to see, if not more. The special lunch we eat are pretty good, and not just sandwiches like most tour. Shabani speak a very good and fluent French/English. This tour will remain as one of our best memory. Thank you Joel & Shabani

We did a 8-day safari with CHALEMA in February 2023 and were entirely satisfied with everything: Joël immediately got in touch through whatsapp (also calling us in Switzerland) and listened to our ideas, at one point giving sound advice for improvement so that we ended up with a perfectly fitting itinerary for us that took into consideration the seasonal migration in the south of Serengeti (Ndutu) – this proved to be the ideal place for the most amazing sightings of wildlife! We were picked up at the airport by Praygod, our guide, who - although young (25 yrs) - spotted so many animals and knew exactly how to guide us to the best places. He was a great source of information for our thousand questions about life in Tanzania and a very helpful and friendly young man. We particularly enjoyed the local curries for lunch (instead of the lunch boxes with all the trash they produce) and Praygod even arranged a local Ugali dish for us. Our jeeps battery was quite weak at one point and the agency arranged for a quick replacement, sending one from Arusha to our location in very little time. We can fully recommend Chalema.
