The Machame route is scenically beautiful and varied. However, due to its popularity there are increased numbers of trekkers, it loses some of its splendour. The Machame route approaches the summit from the southwest and descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field.

In certain sections this route is steeper than the Marangu and Rongai routes and physically more demanding but is easier overall.

Great for acclimatization with lots of walk high, sleep low opportunities.

Brian and his team showed incredible professionalism, care, and dedication, making every part of the trek from the first step to returning safely to Kili Base Hotel in Moshi seamless and enjoyable. The cook prepared delicious meals and the porters worked tirelessly to ensure comfort throughout the climb. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame route with Kilimanjaro Wonders Expedition Safari was an unforgettable anniversary adventure. The trek was tough, but the crew was exceptionally well-prepared. Every day we were treated to three hot meals, thanks to Chef Mushi’s amazing cooking. We also appreciated the comfort of a portable toilet and regular health checks, ensuring we were always in good shape. The pace was comfortable, and with more days dedicated to acclimatization, the climb was challenging but achievable. The Lemosho route offered stunning views of rainforests, meadows, and Kibo Peak. KWESA's attention to detail and great value made this journey a safe, rewarding, and unforgettable experience.

Kili economy/ kwesa tours is been excellent value for money and whilst still feeling like a premium service. We did 7day Machame rotue where we were very well catered for. They keep you well fed on the mountain and the guides we had (Haji, Tuliza, Abu) were knowledgeable, professional and entertaining with good English. It was noticed we had a better ratio of guides than larger groups which was very useful. The company also supported our time in Tanzinia outside of kilimanjaro by providing guides and travel into town and trips to the local hot springs which was appreciated. I would recommend this company to my friends

Climbing Kilimanjaro in late May of 2024 with my father was an unforgettable experience. Although challenging, the climb was rewarding and the mountain was beautiful. Our mountain guides Haji and Joeffrey were unbelievably friendly, patient and helpful, without them and their team, the climb would have been an impossible task. They both went above and beyond what was expected of them, and I would highly recommend climbing with either of them.

Kilimanjaro trekking with KWESA is unforgettable. Our host Edward was great, he made everything easy from the time we contacted him asking about the trek. He was patient, flexible and professional as he worked with us to choosing a package that suited our budget and schedule. We were paired with 2 amazing guides - Juma and Karama. They are very experienced on Kilimanjaro and their support is the reason we reached the summit safely. The trek was characterized by overcast skies, however it cleared on the last 2 days giving us incredible sights. The food provided was excellent. Musa's cooking kept us asking for seconds. I was happy with the equipment that we had, the tents were spacious, water proof and quite comfortable. Every aspect of the trek was well provided for. Asante sana Edward and team for a job well done.

This is a great tour where we trekked up to Kilimanjaro's summit with expert guides from Kilimanjaro Wonders Expedition Safari. The weather was great making trekking enjoyable. It got tougher and colder the higher we got, making the crews support necessary. Our guides Julius and Philip made the trek easier with their experience and advice. They were prepared for everything; right from the morning briefing on the days trekking section, maintaining a pace that was comfortable for us all, breaks and making sure that we were all fit to continue with the trek. The porters also did really well, by ferrying the heavy bags with our supplies, tents and other equipment that we needed for the trek. The most challenging section was the summit night. I think we would have turned back without the encouragement and support from our guides. I was really happy to receive my certificate at the summit. I have a lot appreciation for the KWESA team. They went out their way to keep us safe and pushed us towards achieving successful and safe summit. The service levels were very impressive and the all the equipment was of good quality and worked well. I highly recommend this local company. They are the real deal.

This was fantastic. Edward did so well to arrange our trip to Kilimanjaro. He gave us all the information we needed to prepare for the trip, plus he was available with short notice to answer our questions. There were 2 guides, 1 cook and 9 porters for us three. They were fantastic with their support. They put our security above everything else. Guide Phineas was in charge of the crew and did it very well. There were the daily health checks in the morning and evening to assess our health. The portors helped create camps that transported supplies between the campsites. Everything was very well arranged. Even the food was very delicious. The equipment was at the top; spacious waterproof tents, comfortable layers, a portable toilet and so many things that made the trip pleasant. The crew supported us in all the ways we needed. They also motivated us to continue despite the difficult conditions. We all reached the top and are completely satisfied with KWESA.

Simply the best service! Booking with Teacher was smooth and straightforward. He explained everything about the trek and also sent us all the information that we required to prepare for the trek. When we arrived in Tanzania we found that Teacher has organized for every aspect of the trek. He also introduced us to our guides - Mushi and Ben. We immediately took to this pair and they proved their worth during the trek. Their knowledge for the route enriched the experience as they knew how far to go, when to push, the tempo and many other decisions that were informed by their experience. They made the tough trek easy seem easy and interesting with the numerous stories and insights that they shared about the mountain. The porters also worked very hard, ferrying the bags of food, supplies, tents and everything that we needed. They were also responsible for setting/breaking up the campsites. The food was very delicious and actually exceeded my expectations. I still do not know Mustafa managed to prepare such delicious meals in the tough mountain conditions. I noticed that the quality of the climbing equipment provided was top class and it served us well as the sleeping tents were comfortable and mess tent excellent. I am really happy with the overall trekking experience.
