What To Expect
Day 1: Moshi – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
After breakfast, drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration before continuing to the trailhead. Begin the trek through the beautiful rainforest where you may spot monkeys and colorful birds along the way. The hike continues to Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
After breakfast, leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Shira Plateau. The trail gradually climbs across scenic landscapes to Shira 1 Camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
Today’s trek is shorter and allows time for acclimatization while crossing the beautiful Shira Plateau. Enjoy panoramic mountain views and unique alpine vegetation as you hike to Shira 2 Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
The trek continues toward Lava Tower at 4,630m for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” day helps your body adjust to the altitude while offering spectacular scenery and views of the Barranco Wall.
Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
After breakfast, climb the famous Barranco Wall and continue through valleys and ridges toward Karanga Camp. The day offers amazing views of glaciers and southern ice fields. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
Today’s hike takes you across alpine desert terrain to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. After an early dinner, rest and prepare for the midnight summit climb.
Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
Around midnight, begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Reach the summit in time for sunrise and celebrate your achievement with incredible panoramic views. After photos at the summit, descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Our guide, Stepheno, was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and always encouraged us throughout the journey. He made sure everyone was safe and comfortable. The food prepared by our chef, Kabado, was excellent, fresh, and delicious every day, giving us the energy needed for the climb. The entire team was hardworking and supportive. I highly recommend Kilita Safaris to anyone planning to climb Kilimanjaro. It was truly a memorable adventure.
