This 7-day overland Tibet tour from Lhasa to Kathmandu follows the Sino-Nepal highway, which offer you amazing views of the Himalaya and the picturesque Tibetan countryside. The visit to the old cities: Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse, will give you a complete impression of Tibet's religion, cultural treasures, and dreamlike landscape.
The highlighted Tibet trip to Everest Base Camp en route will be a life-time memory to overcome yourself and get higher to the top of the world.
Notes: Please book this tour 20 days in advance, letting us have enough time to apply for your Tibet Travel Permit and then send it to you.

Book at least 12 working days in advance so tour operator may attain your Tibet Permit. Tibet Permit will be delivered to customers' delivery address / hotel address in one city of China. Please note your tour operator will contact you after the booking is confirmed.
Travelers are required to provide photocopy of passports and China L visas at least 20 days prior to travel date.
Please Note: Customers' airport pick-up and drop-off in Lhasa needs to be arranged by the tour supplier. If customers fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu, please do not apply for China L Visa in advance. Customers need to apply for their Tibet Group Visa from China Embassy in Kathmandu via travel agency. Before that, they need to ask for an invitation letter from the tour supplier. If customers fly or take a train to Lhasa from one city of China, they need to apply for their China L Visa from the China Embassy in their country.
A valid passport and China L Visa used to apply for Tibet Permit are required during the travelling period.
Hotels are based on double occupancy (twin-bedded rooms) by default. If you prefer a single room or if room sharing isn’t possible, a single room supplement is required

What To Expect

Lhasa
Upon arrival, our Tibetan guide will greet you at the airport or train station. You'll then be transferred to your hotel in downtown Lhasa. Along the way, you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lhasa River, and the typical Tibetan villages. After arriving at the hotel, take some time to rest and acclimate to the high altitude. It's helpful to take it easy for the first few days and remember to stay hydrated by drinking water. Please note that there will be no sightseeing scheduled for today.
Lhasa Tour - Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street

Potala Palace
Today's tour will first bring you to the Potala Palace which is the winter palace of the Dalai lama. It was put to use since the 7th Century by the 33rd great king of Tibet. The most valuable collections of Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet.
Jokhang Temple
Then after lunch, tourists head to Jokhang temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century. Inside you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. Outside, you can see pilgrims making prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple.
Barkhor Street
Around the temple is Barkhor street, where you can do kora (a religious circle of a building or mountain) with pilgrims and locals, and explore the old market. Besides, We can taste Tibetan tea with locals in tea house; The welcome dinner will also be arranged accordingly.
Lhasa Tour - Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery

Sera Monastery
In the Afternoon, Tourists will visit Sera Monastery which is another one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. The hot attraction is the Monks debate at around 3 - 5 in the afternoon. In addition, you can tour the Tibetan religious scripture printing house; inside the monastery, you can see three sand Mandalas and colorful Rock Painting of Buddha.
Drepung Monastery (Zhebang Si)
In the morning, you are going to visit Drepung Monastery, Located 25 kilometers southwest of Lhasa downtown, it is a well-protected ancient Tibetan village that surrounded by valleys. After arriving, you will visit the Nyimatang Monastery (built in the 11th century), take a light walk in the village, and see what rural life in Lhasa is like. You will also visit a local Tibetan family and enjoy the lunch offered by the family. Now, we will not visit Drepung Monastery and visit Dadong Village instead.
Lhasa (3650m) to Shigatse(3900m) via Gyantse

Yamdrok Yumtso Lake
In the morning, drive from Lhasa to Shigatse .On the way, drive over the Gampala pass (4790 m), and you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso (4400m) .The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can have spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, (7191m) the highest mountain near Lhasa .
Karo La Glacier
Later, we will pass and enjoy the Karola Glacier on the roadside; At Manak Dam Lake, you can hang pray flag at Simila Mountain Pass; Then, we will arrive in Gyantse, historically Tibet's third largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse).
Shigatse(3900m) to EBC (5200m) via Tingri

Tashilunpo Monastery
In the morning, we will visit the home of Panchan Lama - Tashilunpo Monastery. Then, we’ll leave Shigatse after getting your Alien’s travel permit, and then drive to Lhatse, it is a small town where you can have lunch.
Mount Everest Base Camp
After that, we will pass Tsola Pass(4600M), and Gyatsola Pass(5248M). Shortly after we enter Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve, tourists can enjoy the panorama of Himalaya at Gawula Pass(5198m).Then we drive along the New zigzag road to Everest Base Camp(5200m). You can get closer to gazt at the Mt. Everest peak. The sunset of golden Everest peak if time and weather permits at the lodging area.
EBC to Gyirong Border 370km

Rongbuk Monastery
In the morning, you can appreciate the sunrise of Everest Peak if weather permits at the lodging area and then visit the Rongbuk Monstery - the unique highest monastery with nuns and monks living together. Later, we can visit the Everest Base Camp and take pictures of Mt. Everest at the closes distance in EBC. After that, we can drive from EBC to Kyirong border. On the way, tourists can enjoy breathtakign vista of Mt. Shishapangma and the Pekutso Lake. After passing the Ghungtang Lhamo(5236M), we will arrive in Kyirong in late afternoon.
Peikucuo Lake
On the way from EBC to Kyirong border, tourists can enjoy breathtakign vista of Mt. Shishapangma and the Pekutso Lake. After passing the Ghungtang Lhamo(5236M), we will arrive in Kyirong in late afternoon.
Gyirong County
When down to Gyirong County from above 5000m, you will see the forest and waterfall scenery which is differenct from the snow land

4.00Well organized tour with very high quality modern minibus with 6 participants plus guide and driver. Very nice, pleasant and educated guide Tenwang, who gave a lot of interesting information about the visited stations and responded to all questions patiently. Very pleasant and safe driver. The booked 4 star accommodations were mostly good. Basecamp is of course inevitably very simple but ok. The only negative thing about the tour was the last night in Nyalam, as the hotel overall was very unpleasant and bad and despite the very low outside temperatures, adequate heating of the room was not possible via a small weak electric heater. The choice of this bad hotel was probably due to the fact that the originally planned Gyirong Kwo border crossing was supposed to be overnight) was closed and an alternative had to be found at short notice.

5.00This was well planed and organized trip. We got the best possible weather and we were able to see all the mountains and highest peaks. In Lhasa we visited some of the most important monuments, had some cultural experience in local cultural center, and we managed to see sunset over Everest. This trip offered much to see and our guide, Lhatse Tenzin was really informative and caring. This trip would not be that good without him. He awlays provided us with answers for all our questions, and was there when some of the group needed help with the altitude sickness.

5.00Couldn’t have been any better Activities in the program were thought through. Not too much and not too little, the perfect balance. Activities were diverse, cultural, fun, religious, relaxing, exiting. And through them all, our guide Lhakpa was thoughtful, present, accommodating and very considerate for any of our requests. He is flexible whilst maintaining the scheduele. Also he’s a great photographer :) He’s serious about what he needs to be serious on and the rest of the time he’s friendly, familiar and funny. I honestly wouldn’t change anything about the trip. I want to give a special comment on the Nini Tibet Cultural Experience in Lhasa. You get to practice Tibetan calligraphy, make incents from scratch using 15 different herbs. They make you smell them and give explanations. You engage with everything you are doing and not on a surface level but an authentic one. You also get to use ink to stamp prayer flags that you then leave at Mount Everest base camp. The head of the program is also a great man, he wants you to understand what you are doing. Eating was always thought through, you are never left hungry. And food is local and good. Hotels are great, with aboundant breakfast and facilities for laundry and whatnot. Last special thanks to our excellent driver. Felt safe the entire time on the crazy mountain roads. Incredible views, made so many memories. My heart is warmed forever. Thank you!
