Port Adelaide
Enjoy cruising the iconic Port River in Port Adelaide learning about the rich maritime history. You'll get to visit the Ships Graveyard where the remains of at least 40 abandoned vessels lie embedded in silt and partially hidden by mangroves in the backwaters of the Port River, in Adelaide's north west. The collection includes large and small sailing, steam and motor vessels, barges, pontoons and dredges.
Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary
The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is one of the gems of metropolitan Adelaide. Located only 20 minutes from Adelaide, this marine park is home to around 30 resident bottlenose dolphins, with another 400 transient dolphins that visit at various times. These wild dolphins come here to feed, play, socialise and nurse their calves.

I was so impressed with this tour! I went in not expecting much but couldn’t believe we actually saw dolphins! I loved that the tour was incredibly eco-conscious, not getting too close to the dolphins and letting them come towards us if they wanted and leaving when it was clear they were feeding so as not to disturb. There was also informative guides to the area as well.

This was a great tour to see wildlife and to hear the history of the port. Lived in South Australia for over 50 years and didn’t know about the ship graveyard.

I can’t give a review of the tour because I was left on the dock. I arrived early and made myself known to the operator. I asked if it would be ok to go to the toilet. This turned out to be very necessary and took longer than I expected. When I arrived back at the dock everyone had left. I attempted to contact the operator but got a recorded message. As I stood on the dock I saw the boat go past. I waved frantically but to no avail. Since then I have tried to contact the company by phone and email, but they will not reply.

Great commentary by Alex who was so knowledgeable and such a lovely young man. We finally managed to see the dolphins too which was wonderful, Alex did go out of his way to seek them out. Ships graveyard is very interesting, and never have we seen anything like that before, so a whole new experience and memory.

Relaxing and informative boat trip, well worth the money! Many historical areas including the ship graveyard, Pelicans and many other birds in the bird sanctuary and to top it off we saw a small pod of Dolphins. Thanks to the Captain, Alex, for such a great experience.

My husband and I are Port Adelaide locals and had been meaning to go on a Port River cruise for some time. As the weather forecast was for a lovely day and we had time we booked. This process was very easy and the information provided by the company was spot on. The cruise was fabulous and we saw and learnt things about the Port River that we didn’t already know. Our two young hosts /skipper were professional and friendly. Definitely a worthwhile tour for visitors to the area. They may have been a little disappointed as we didn’t see any dolphins during the cruise but we can vouch for the fact that we often see dolphins during our walks along the docks. All in all an enjoyable experience.

Great trip down the river and back. Our captain was friendly and informative. He knew about all the boats, buildings and even knew some of the dolphins by name.
