Join a Local Gardener and get a more holistic view of Belfast from its humble beginnings through its troublesome past to its very bright future.
Having discovered the history of the Queens University, we'll enter and explore the Ulster Museum to view exhibited artefacts that help explain not only the history of our troubled past but lots more fascinating facts about this wee part of the island, of Ireland, in an eclectic manner. We'll then enter into the Botanic Gardens to discover the unique collection of plants and trees from all over the world, that have been collected over the past 200 years. And after discovering its two impressive glass houses The Palm House and Tropical Ravine. We'll then meander on through the Botanic area passing through the Queens University, Quarter, towards the city centre. Into the Linen Quarter discovering the rich history of the area and visiting a couple of hidden gems. Finishing in the grounds of the iconic city hall.

As a family, we had a custom bespoke private tour of Belfast's Botanic Gardens with our tour guide Marti. It was not only very informative but a truly magical experience, as our guide brought his vast historical and horticultural knowledge to life. Our family departed the gardens feeling truly inspired and realised what a unique and gifted person we had just spent time with. Thank you Marti !

Unfortunately due to a missed connection in London, we weren’t able to make to Belfast until the day after we had booked this tour. Marti tried very hard to offer alternatives to our missed tour but it just didn’t work out due to our travel schedule. Marti offered up suggestions for us to consider while visiting other areas of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We plan on returning to NI and Belfast so that we can take this highly recommended tour and to meet Marti in person.

Marti is a true local gem with an insightful depth of knowledge few guides possess. If you want to know the full history of Ireland , Marti is your man. If you want to know more about who came and when, Marti knows. If you are a plant and nature lover, let Marti guide you through the park! Plus he provides additional materials after the tour to further enhance what you've already learned. He's a character, but a true Irish gent!

I have taken Marti walks in the past so a bit bias, what ever Marti talks about he does it with love and passion. I walked and seen art he knows it, he can even find you a good pint. He can walked you through the streets an amaze you with the wealth of knowledge on so many subjects, art, history, the troubles, the eclectic little pieces of “things” you will get it if you walk the Marti. I got a sneak peak of his Garden, Museum walk today. This is Marti in his element he has a horticultural background and an awesome way of discussing plants, birds, history, and the life in Belfast. Remember he is a Belfast local and does carry a Belfast accent 😂 he will always leave you with something to talk about or ponder over. Thanks Marti

Marti the guide has a wealth of knowledge to share concerning plants (we love to visit gardens on our trips), as well as the long history of Belfast, how the city and politics have gotten to where it is today. This was also a goal of our visit, to hear and see it through a locals eyes. He was gracious enough to meet us at the train station we were returning to so we could start the tour 15 minutes early.

Marty gave us a beautiful tour of the Botanic gardens in Belfast. Told us all the ins and outs of the plants and flowers. For me it was nice to practice my knowledge of (a lot of )names of the plants. Marty has a wonderful way of telling stories about the history of the Botanic gardens and Belfast in general. Unfortunately there was no time for the Belfast-tour but next time we sure will call Marty to show us around!

Highly recommended this walking tour with Marti Malloy! Marti knows everything about Belfast and because he is a gardener as well, he knows all about the beautiful botanic gardens. Furthermore, it is a real likeable guy who will do his utmost to give you an unforgettable experience in Belfast.

Marti is the best! His passion and knowledge Belfast and Ireland is incredible! Marti can tell you everything about the street art, about the music, about the pubs, about the Victorian times, about the the independent war 1919-1921 and about The Troubles 1969-1998. But also about the ongoing hard work to keep peace, especially after Brexit.
