Loved our tour guide (Lisa Tanya)...thorough history, spent extra time with us, etc. The only thing not favorable was the weather, but, hey, it was summer in the Baltics.

Norwegian cuisine in its traditional form is based largely on the raw materials readily available in Norway and its mountains, wilderness, and coast. This exciting tour shall include a visit to some historical restaurants and cafe. We will visit a famous chocolate shop, a gourmet supermarket, a canteen and a traditional pub. You will have the opportunity to try typical Norwegian dishes: salmon, fish soup (seasonal), meat, local beer and much more. This food tour is ideal for those who like to "try/taste" traditional Norwegian cuisine. During the tour you will visit the historical center of Oslo, Aker Brygge area, the City Hall, the medieval Akershus fortress and the National Opera. The places you are going to visit are very popular among the locals. Everything is very authentic and delicious! Additional information: Tour price does not include tasting. Food and drinks are paid by the visitors. NB! Food tastings are limited on Sundays and during week days after 6PM.

Our tour guide Tanya-Lisa was an exceptional tour guide. Very attentive to our needs. Very knowledgeable about the history of Oslo. She was extremely patient with us, especially when we couldn’t decide what we wanted to do. Tanya-Lisa was also very sensitive to some of us in the group needing to stop and rest on the walking tour. Tanya-Lisa also took us to the once a year market that wasn’t included on the itinerary. She is definitely a tour guide I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great experience in Oslo!

The tour was moderately interesting but we had hoped to get a little more history with the walking tour. Although we didn’t love the food, I do believe we got a small sampling of authentic Norwegian cuisine. However it wasn’t nearly as expansive as the advertisement would lead one to believe. We had several tastes of smoked salmon, some mackerel and lamb sausage, and a chicken sausage from what felt like a 7-11 type venue. While our guide was very personable, we had hoped to get a broader historical overview of the area. The guide pointed out a lot of places that we “should visit,” but didn’t give us much more than that. I don’t think it was a good value.

Had a very good tour - interesting, well planned, entertaining and well worth the price. There were 3-4 stops with different food tastings - great food and new knowledge about this fascinating city. The host took interest in all of us. Our party of 2 people plus the host worked out just right. Had a great time - it was a perfect way to experience Oslo.

The food is good. Guide was not. She started by sending me 8 messages changing time & meeting place twice. She talked non stop repeating herself often and giving us much wrong information. We walked at least 4 miles. At the end she asked if there was anything she could have done better. When I told her all the communication was confusing. She became very defensive. We tried to leave & she kept following us & trying to argue with me. I kept polite. Very disappointed. She was quite unprofessional

Great combo history/food tour. We covered a lot of ground and saw a lot..l Very informative. The food stops were fantastic. Tanya took us to a salmon fishery company, raising salmon in the fjords attached restaurant, where we got a history lesson on how salmon is raised. We got to sample fiskekaker “fish cakes” and three different prepared salmon 🍣 bites: delicious. We then went to our favorite place, which was a commercial fish market with a tiny attached store, where they sell their products. We got to sample six different meats and fish including whale 🐳. (Whale not my favorite). We also hit an adorable cafe where we had Mosbromlefse, which is a caramelized goat cheese inside of a paper-thin crêpe-like thing that had sour cream on top. It was sweet and delicious. We ended with a coffee and tea at another cafe, after which Tanya dropped us back at our hotel. Four hours total. It might seem like small amounts of food, but we were completely satisfied.

Our group is still confused about the price structure of this tour. We've done lots of food tours around the world and have never had a tour advertised as a food tour where the food was separate. As I paid online here at Tripadvisor, I saw that there would be an additional $55 for food; however, there was no option to pay the extra money. I called the "help" number, and they told me the food was included and if we wanted some specialty foods we could pay the fee on site. I then wrote the tour guide directly who told me to pay at the event. When we arrived, we were told it would be $60. I just still don't understand the pay structure of this tour and feel that Tripadvisor/Quality Tours should be explicit about the fee and what you get for that fee. We enjoyed the experience at the meat market and the man who talked to us about the Norwegian products and he gave us a plate of samples. The tastings we had thereafter all involved fish. The only dessert/sweet was a large candy bar she pulled from her bag. Some more variety would have been appreciated. The tour went on far beyond the scheduled time.

Amazing experience! We definitely recommend this tour to anyone that enjoys history and trying traditional delicious Scandinavian food. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was just like walking in Oslo learning some history and eating delicious food with a friend. My two teenagers enjoyed this tour very much.
