The Theatre of Dionysus is an ancient Greek theatre in Athens. It is built on the south slope of the Acropolis hill, originally part of the sanctuary of Dionysus Eleuthereus. Fabulous tour for someone who just wants to visit the Acropolis without any fuss. We went early to avoid the crowds but was still busy. Our guide Petros was excellent. Fluent English and provided history and commentary with great passion and sneaky sense of humour.

This was an excellent experience. We’ve had some really mediocre guided trips through the Balkans but this was not one of them. Demos was personable and provided a good amount of information without leaving us feeling saturated with dates. He take the climb to the top slowly, taking breaks at areas with shade and seating to share information which made the tour manageable for the older people in the group. At the top Demos took photos for everyone and ended the tour up there to allow everyone as much time as they wanted. A very much worthwhile experience. I don’t think you’d get a feel for the place without the extra info a tour offers.

Our tour guide Celina was so great and she was the highlight of our tour. So informative and professional. She was very patient with our group of 15, making sure we all were getting what we wanted from the experience.
