Both Anetta and Jens genuinely wanted us to experience the Northern Lights in their full glory and took all steps to optimise our chances of seeing them. And boy was it worth it; we got a spectacular show!! The campsite fire and delicious soup and hot chocolate were really appreciated. Group size was just right. Anetta and Jens thank you for the wonderful adventure!!

Aneta and Jens gave us an amazing experience, we saw the most incredible light show! The soup and hot chocolate were delicious, and the provided gear kept us as warm as possible in the -20°C temps. Highly recommend this tour!

Absolutely amazing experience! We had Aneta as a guide and Jens as a driver. Both were great. Aneta was truly knowledgeable about the Northern Lighrs and we got to see them clearer than the night sky. The tour provided a yummy soup, hot chocolate, and cookies!!!

Very good aurora tour. Small group, good and passionate gide (thanks Aneta!!). She took us on several very beautiful spots. We got lucky with very good conditions and beautiful aurora. Also, being on a special diet : wandering owl offers vegan and gluten free soup and cookies, also a reason why i chose this compagnie.

With a cruise stop in Tromso, an excellent Aurora chase was our aim and Wandering Owl delivered this brilliantly for us. There are many providers, all showcasing the most wonderful pics on their website and promising to drive all night, crossing the Finnish border - all to get you to book their trip! I researched a little, checked out some reviews and chose Wandering Owl. Yes, the name caught my eye, but remember an Owl is depicted as a wise bird, a skilled hunter that has excellent vision in the night. Qualities that are needed to find Aurora - and after our chase i can assure you our experience certainly loved up to this name. I had a few questions before booking and chose to use WhatsApp to reach out. I received a response within an hour each time, with no pressure to book. It was agreed for a pick up at the dock and a full detail of what we needed fo know beforehand. Pick up was timely, there were only 4 of us and we set to go. Safety briefing complete, explanation of the evening given and off we went. It felt like been in the movie Twister with our guide using his app and knowledge to plan our route. Bart was extremely friendly, shared his knowledge and passion for Aurora. This was his 8th season searching for Aurora and he took a real pride in making sure we had the right level of experience. Within 30 mins of leaving Tromso we found Aurora, stunning displays which we were vivid green in the sky. Bart took photos of us with the Aurora and you could feel his passion in seeing the lights. Once they had disappeared from the sky, we set off again, finding a spot to continue our watch. Bart suited us up, lit a fire and gave us warm soup. Whilst we waited he told us about the lights, the science behind them and also what people believed in earlier times. How people were scared of the Aurora and what they believed would happen or how the lights were formed. We drove and stopped many times during our hunt, but despite our clear skies we saw no more Aurora which matched those earlier. At one stop we had home made hot chocolate and cookies to keep our spirits which was a lovely touch to the night. When we agreed we were ready to go back to Tromso, that is what we did. If you want an experience, something different and an adventure in searching for Aurora, Wandering Owl is just the thing. We saw many tours, people stood out in the cold, bus loads of people crammed in to a car park not knowing what they were doing. Choose wisely and i can 100% recommend Bart and his team at Wandering Owl. As promised, the following day we received an email to check everything had been ok and copies of the photos Bart had taken for us to download and keep. I had a ‘dream’ of being in the middle of nowhere looking up and seeing the Aurora and having that feeling of magic and enchantment. Bart and Wandering Owl made that happen for me - thank you Remember, choose you’re tour operator carefully, be wise and choose Wandering Owl x

My mom and I booked this aurora hunt with Wandering Owl on the 16th of January 2026 and we could not have made a better decision! Our guide Bart was very friendly, knowledgeable, eager to find the best spots to see the northern lights & he overall made the experience very enjoyable! He also took many pictures and sent them all within the specified delivery time. We were very lucky to see breathtaking northern lights close to Tromsø, which also made it possible to go to two different locations which is not common at all, but we got lucky. Our group ended up consisting of only 4 guests + Bart and I would recommend the smaller groups for a more personal experience if you can afford it. Also the people at the WO office in Tromsø were very helpful! We went there earlier in the week to ask to reschedule our original date to the 16th because our original day was expected to be very cloudy. Together with us they researched online for a better day and the rescheduling was cost-free and very easy. To conclude, we would definitely recommend Wandering Owl to anyone looking for an unforgettable northern lights experience in Tromsø! 😊

We were in Tromso for a week and had booked three evening Northern Lights Tours, this was our first. So, we had no real idea of what to expect. We wanted small groups (8 and no kids) so we booked the adult tour which I can recommend. What I can say about WO was that out of all the companies we used they were the only one who did a safety briefing before we left, where the first aid kit was in the van, what numbers to call in an emergency and what to expect. Our guide (the only female guide we had while in Tromso) was EXCELLENT. She chatted nonstop about Tromso, Norway, she explained where we were going, all about the lights, the different colours and it was clear for all to see that she was totally enthused about her job. That came across the entire 6 hours! It was a great first introduction to NL Hunting. Top tip – make sure you are ready to leap out of the van at short notice, so have your spikes on and only take a light bag with essentials. If you have mobility issues this may limit access to some areas so think carefully what type of tour you want to book and with whom. We ended up climbing down a fairly steep (slippery bank), but we all managed and no one was left to struggle on their own. She gave everyone help with their phones and assisted with settings. We ended up in a great spot near a lake which had some brilliant houses as a backdrop. Lots of photos were taken by all and our guide went out of her way to make sure everyone was included. It was a nice touch the homemade soup and later on homemade chocolate drinks and ginger nut biscuits. Great personal touches the other tours did not provide (they provided packet meals made with boiling water). We would be happy to suggest WO, there are so many companies to pick from (and we had done tonnes of research) but I have to say they are all in fact quite different!

Aneta took us on a brilliant tour and we had a wonderful night. She showed excellent knowledge of the area and of the auroras. And created a lovely environment with warm soup and drinks. Her enthusiasm for the lights, combined with her amazing photography skills, made the whole night unforgettable. We gathered around a campfire with vegetable soup, homemade cookies, and hot chocolate, which added such a cosy touch. Being in a small group made the experience feel personal and allowed us to move quickly when finding the best spot to watch the aurora.
