Fitzroy Island National Park
Fitzroy Island, located about 45 minutes by ferry from Cairns in Queensland, Australia, is a stunning tropical paradise that offers an ideal setting for a day tour. Known for its lush rainforests, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs, Fitzroy Island provides a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure for visitors.
Nudey Beach
Nudey Beach on Fitzroy Island is a breathtaking highlight of any day tour, celebrated for its unique coral shoreline. The beach is covered in natural coral fragments, creating a striking white landscape that contrasts beautifully with the vibrant turquoise waters. While the coral gives the beach a rugged texture, it adds to its raw, untouched charm. The clear, shallow waters are perfect for snorkeling, with colorful coral reefs and marine life just offshore. Sturdy water shoes are recommended for exploring the shoreline comfortably. Nudey Beach’s distinctive character and natural beauty make it a must-visit destination, offering a truly unforgettable experience. A 20 minute walk from Welcome Bay.

As it has been said before you don’t spend a lot of time on the Island. But if you know it before hand you can still maximize your time and have a great time. I knew I wanted to do the trails so I went for it right away. The Summit track is definitely not for first timers but the Lighthouse road is very accessible with a moderate fitness level. If you’re an experienced hiker you can easily go all the way to the lighthouse and come back through the summit trail with time to spare before the ferry comes back a 4:45pm. I would definitely recommend this tour, the island is breath taking, but to go prepared as to not waste time once on the island.

We took the last ferry of the day at 1:30, I would recommend to take an earlier one. 40 minutes there and back back eat up slot of time. The last ferry leaves at 5 so you don’t get a lot of time to explore. I highly recommend making the trek through the rocky trail to Nudey Beach. It’s beautiful trail through the forest. The ferry itself it’s nothing fancy but the staff was very polite and friendly.
