Lake Mývatn and the surroundings is a must see while exploring the north. First, you will be driven along the coast of Eyjafjordur. Begin by stopping at Goðafoss waterfall on your way to Lake Mývatn. The lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2,300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars and rootless vents. Stop in Skútustaðagígar (pseudo craters) on the way to the unique lava formations of Dimmuborgir which are among the most popular tourist attractions in the Mývatn area. Also, visit Grjótagjá Rift, an old natural bathing spot filled with naturally heated water coming out of a rift. Stop at Selfoss waterfall and Dettifoss, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. You will have the opportunity to take a bath in the geothermal water (at own expense). After the stop in the nature baths, you will be driven back to Akureyri. Your last stop is in Eyjafjordur where you can see over the fjord to Akureyri.

My partner and I had an amazing day with Erwin. Greatly exceeded all of my expectations. We will definitely be back to this part of Iceland and will book again with Star Tours...each excursion that we went on was bucket list stuff.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about Iceland and Akureyri area. We visited a number of stunning attractions and had ample time to walk around and take photos.

Hogni was an amazing guide! We learned a lot about each place we visited, and this tour had it all! We saw all of the major sites of this area and Hogni even took our group of three to see a few "extra" sites since we were not going to go in the Nature Baths. The vehicle was very comfortable and felt very safe. Our small group tour had only 5 people and we had a lot of flexibility. Hogni is very knowledgeable about Iceland. I would recommend this tour to anyone - it was amazing!

Fantastic small group tour. Our guide was excellent. Very informative and interesting. We were on a cruise and most of the ship tours did less than half what we saw. Being a small group (5) meant we could ask personal questions. Ive no hesitation in recommending this tour. We did 7 stops all of which were interesting

I enjoyed this tour so much that I'm worried I can't do it justice in a written review. But here goes. We visited a tunnel chamber, waterfalls, caves, trolls and the Myvatn Nature Baths. What made these experiences special was the information and local stories shared by our guide Siggi. The genuine interest he took in each one of us and his personable nature helped us to quickly become a comfortable group. It was clear that he wanted everyone to have a great day so we did. So, this wasn't just a bus ride. I have been on day tours in Iceland and other countries and this one topped them all and is one we want to remember. It can be hard to decide on a tour when you scroll through the sites but I feel confident in saying "Choose this one." Thank you, Siggi. The way you made all of us feel valued was heart warming.

Jon was an exceptional tour guide who took around Lake Myvatn, Godafoss, and Dimmuborgir! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the geology and history of the area. He knew all the great photo spots and went above and beyond to take us to some hidden gems in the region! Would highly recommend this tour to family and friends!

Great experience! Weather was cold, wet and windy. Beautiful tour. Our guide Jowi was fabulous and went above and beyond when my son in law slipped and fell into a cave hot water bath. He was soaked. She called her brother to borrow shoes and pants and we stopped at a store to buy socks. So we got to finish our tour! Thanks Jowi!
