For starters, you'll find a consummate host in Captain Jack, whose primary goal is to give you the best experience possible. He's ready to share as much (or as little) information as you'd like to learn about Ketchikan and Southeast Alaska, all while striving to put you on the best fish to be found on any given day.
And while all parties are welcome, no other charter fishing operation in Ketchikan has been built with accessibility at the center of its mission. With a wheelchair-accessible boat, adaptive fishing gear available, certifications from IBCCES and Autism Double-Checked, plus over ten years experience working in various disabled communities, you've got a friend and ally in Captain Jack.

Get a taste of life in Alaska on this fully-accessible fishing charter with a Ketchikan local as your captain. Wild Pacific salmon abound in the waters here, with all five species (king, silver, pink, chum, and sockeye) in overlapping runs, May through October. All are welcome, and our boat was built to be wheelchair-accessible. We also have adaptive fishing gear for those who may require it: a wheelchair-mountable rod holder; grasping cuffs for those with limited wrist function; and reel grips for those with limited finger function. Captain Jack is also a Certified Autism Specialist through IBCCES, and Fishability Alaska is also certified through Autism Double-Checked. We often see wildlife while we are fishing—whales, orcas, porpoises, seals, sea lions, eagles, and more! Captain Jack will happily regale you with tales of Ketchikan's past, present, and future—or keep it low-key and quiet, if you just want to soak up the scenery and enjoy the peace of escaping the crowds. We can also arrange shipping, if you'd like to keep fish and have them processed. This is done by a separate company in Ketchikan, who have their own pricing.

What an amazing experience! Captain Jack was a wealth of information about the area. He was such a hospitable host with a comfortable boat! We had rainy/windy weather and his boat was enclosed so that we were shielded from the uncomfortable weather. Then the sun came out! Even if you catch NOTHING, the views are WORTH IT. We saw like 5 rainbows and Jack pointed out all the wildlife he could see. We got excited every time there was a bite! This was a highlight of our trip to Alaska and would recommend Jack’s boat a million times over!

Our trip with Captain Jack was great from start to finish. He was in touch with us beforehand regarding the weather, and kept us informed. He was so very friendly and personable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. His brand new boat is beautiful and comfortable. He took us right to the spots where fish were biting, and although we didn't land any keepers, he worked hard to keep rods in the water to increase our chances. The experience was what we came for, and that we got! Thanks, Jack...we hope to go out with you again in the future!

Captain Jack was fantastic start to finish! The booking process was easy and the day on the water was great. The boat is beautiful and all the gear is in excellent condition. Jack is very knowledgeable about the area and knows the local waters. We caught fish and learned a ton along the way! If you want a great total experience from someone in the community book with Jack!

We went salmon fishing with Captain Jack and Fish-ability last week as an excursion from our cruise ship. Captain Jack provided an exceptional time on board, he was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We all caught something and had a good time. His boat is brand new and super nice. If we are back in Ketchikan, we will absolutely go out with him again. Thanks for everything!

Alaskan Salmon Fishing with optional Adaptive Gear is by far the best salmon fishing excursion in Ketchikan, Alaska. If you’re looking for a Ketchikan fishing charter that is professional, comfortable, and truly unforgettable—this is the one to book. Here are a few reasons why this trip stood out: The fishing was incredible. We caught several beautiful salmon, and the crew arranged to have them shipped home—such a great touch. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. Captain Jack is outstanding. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and an excellent communicator. He made both beginners and more experienced anglers feel completely at ease, and we loved learning about the local area between reeling in fish. The boat is brand new (August 2025), clean, spacious, and comfortable. There was plenty of room to fish, plus indoor space to get out of the elements when needed. Looking around at the other fishing boats, I was very glad we chose this one—it felt like a premium experience. Great for beginners and families. My wife had never been fishing before and usually avoids long boat trips. She reluctantly agreed to join—and ended up loving it so much she didn’t want the trip to end! This shows how welcoming and accessible this fishing experience really is. I love the concept of an adaptive excursion. He truly cares about this and is well equipped to handle it. This makes it one of the few truly accessible fishing excursions in Ketchikan, which means anyone can enjoy the thrill of catching Alaskan salmon. Excellent value. After researching many Alaska fishing tours, this one had some of the best pricing without sacrificing quality. The experience felt far more valuable than what we paid. 10/10—I highly recommend booking Alaskan Salmon Fishing with optional Adaptive Gear if you want the best Ketchikan salmon fishing trip. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a first-timer, this is an unforgettable way to experience Alaska fishing at its finest.
