The 8:30am option departs from 488 Post Street. Look for a black Mercedes sprinter van parked across the street. It will start with Muir Woods and Sausalito then go to Alcatraz.

The 12:50pm option departs from Pier 33. It will start with Muir Woods and Sausalito then to Alcatraz at night.

3.0This tour consists of doing Alcatraz on your own then having a drive in a group van to the Muir Woods and Sausalito. You arrive at the meeting point at the ferry dock and there is nobody guiding you, you are on your own to line up with the other hundreds of people waiting to get on the ferry. When you arrive at Alcatraz you are on your own to do an audio tour and return on a ferry at your own leisure to meet up with the van that will drive you to Muir Woods. Our tour was mostly like an Uber ride with some disappointments. Despite arranging for a wheelchair ahead of time, the driver did not acknowledge our accessibility concerns or provide accessible seating for us. We were forced to crawl to the 3rd row which was very uncomfortable for my daughter who has an issue with her ankle. The van was full, total 14 people plus the driver and during the ride, he spoke to the people in the first 2 rows while ignoring those in the back. The trip was not actually guided except for the driver mentioning the price of real estate here and there. We were on our own again at Muir Woods, tickets for which which are not included in the price of the tour. We paid an additional $45 for the three of us. The driver did help us open the back of the van to unload the wheelchair at the stops. At Sausalito we were dropped off in a parking lot and recommended to walk around town. Overall the sights were great but the tour was disappointing because it is not actually a guided tour; the whole day is spent exploring on your own or with the audio tour at Alcatraz. We basically paid for a driver who was not mindful of our accessibility needs that caused discomfort all day. We did give a small tip out of courtesy but we would definitely not book this tour again, and certainly not for anyone with accessible needs.
