Not much interaction with the guide. Museum/ village was great and most of the tour time was there. However you were left to your own devices so may has well have just gone there on your own. Lighthouse was good but again, no interaction with guide. Stairway in lighthouse was dangerous as many people banged their heads ( be aware). Not much time spent in Alesund centre itself and could not hear anything guide said due to volume of people. It was really a mode of transport rather than a tour

We chose this tour because it seems to give us several things to see in the area. We really only spent time at the museum and the lighthouse. More time could be allowed so all could have had the opportunity to go up into the lighthouse. The museum was an open air stroll thru some of the historic turf house and there was a building with several Viking boats. We enjoyed our time there. We really didn’t get a tour of the art nouveau in the city center.

While our tour of Ålesund had the potential to be an enjoyable experience, the conduct of one individual tainted the journey. The tour guides were friendly, engaging, and eager to assist, making an effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. However, the behavior of the bus driver, Julian, was unacceptable and deeply disappointing. After mistakenly opening the door while it was closed, I immediately apologized for the error. Despite this, Julian continued to berate and scold both me and my friend—who walks with a cane—treating us as though we were misbehaving children rather than paying customers. His aggressive approach made us feel bullied and unnecessarily humiliated. When the bus was finally opened and I attempted to board, Julian once again confronted me, demanding my name. Already frustrated by his behavior, I asked for his name in return. His demeanor throughout the experience showed an unsettling lack of professionalism, respect, and compassion—particularly toward my friend, whose mobility challenges should have warranted at least a basic level of consideration. While the two tour guides later apologized upon learning about the incident, the apology should have come from Julian himself. His refusal to acknowledge his disrespectful conduct only reinforced our sense of discrimination and disdain from him. The tour boasts a high-end bus as its selling point, but if the people behind it lack basic courtesy and professionalism, then the comfort it provides becomes irrelevant. The negative experience overshadows any luxury, turning what should have been an enjoyable excursion into an upsetting one. For over $133 per person, this tour was simply not worth the money. Ålesund offers plenty of hop-on, hop-off bus tours available at the port—many of which provide a pleasant experience without the risk of encountering rude staff. I'd rather spend less and actually enjoy my time, so if you’re looking to book a tour, save your money and choose the hop on hop off bus.
