Discover the scenery and history of the ‘Viking saga islands’ of Giske and Godøy.
From Ålesund, we’ll travel across the Giske bridge to the saga island of Giske, the birthplace of the Viking chieftain, Rollo.
During a photo stop at Giske we will enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Travelling through a tunnel will bring us to the island of Godøy and the picturesque fishing village of Alnes. There will be a stop at Alnes Lighthouse for a visit .
We return to Ålesund and ascend the local mountain Aksla. The bus will take us as far as the stadium, where we’ll continue our journey on foot. A scenic 900-meter walk on a gentle path with no gradient will lead us to the viewpoint, offering spectacular panoramic views of Ålesund and its stunning surroundings. From the viewpoint, we will descend 418 steps back to the town, where it's just a short walk to the harbor. Please Note: For those who prefer not to walk to the viewpoint or down the steps, the bus will return directly to the harbor.

First bad review I have ever given and surprised as normally all tours I book via Viator are exceptional. Typically I won’t book a tour without reviews but this time I did since it was a new offering. The tour guide was not knowledgeable and also a bit unprofessional. He was constantly smoking, and while I don’t have an issue with smoking if you are working you shouldn’t do it. Secondly he made a comment that he was an electrician by trade and couldn’t work in Norway in that trade but lucked out as he found this job for a tour operator for those that spoke English and German. Not that I have a problem with that but if you are going to be a tour guide then be knowledgeable. I learned nothing interesting that I couldn’t look up on Google in 2 min. Lastly the tour was supposed to end at the top of the hill with a walk down the steps to the city. That did not happen. Way over priced for the experience.

Enjoyed the stops as we took the tour on a special Norwegian holiday and the towns were festive with most in traditional dress. Guide was informative but kept up a quick pace on the walk on the mountain stop and left a fair number of us in the dust so we weren't able to hear his commentary. Do not underestimate the agility needed to go down the steps - take your time!

Didnt turn up. Booked via Viator. They advised viator that they messaged us to say trip was cancelled. They didnt! We called the number given when they didnt show up - they never answered - cowards! Unreliable, untrustworthy and not worth the risk if you are in Alesund for the day on a cruise. Could only recommend if you want your visit ruined. Stay away from them there are much better operators

This is a bus tour with two treacherous staircase sites. The stop at the lighthouse was absolutely beautiful with a nice café. I recommended the lighthouse cake. The lighthouse itself has ladder like steps all the way to the top for an amazing view. Make sure to go down the stairs, like a sailor with the ladder facing the stairway. This can be difficult for anyone with limited mobility! Next, there’s about a half an hour walk to reach the viewpoint over Alesund- the steps down are fine in good weather, but if it was rainy or snowy, you would have to be hanging on to keep from falling. This is not a good tour for those with limited mobility or difficulty with stairs. Our tour guide Rudolph, Loved To Talk and told us all about the building of tunnels through the fjords. However, there was virtually zero Viking history on this tour. don’t go if you’re looking for Viking history. Do book this one for beautiful Norwegian culture and countryside, and lovely nature views with the lighthouse and the Saga islands.

Terrible tour - not informative at all. Commentary was cringeworthy. The only reference to vikings was basically the text found in the description of the tour. My son had to sit at the back of the bus where all the view was blocked. Complete waste of money.

This was a wonderful bus tour! Our tour guide Giuseppe was amazing. This was an easy, low impact way to see a lot of Ålesund. The island of Giske and its connection to Rollo was very interesting. A trip highlight was the lighthouse on Gödoy. Great views and a cute little lighthouse. I would recommend this bus tour to anyone visiting Ålesund!
