What To Expect
Sagres Fortress
Let's see the Sagres Fortress, which stands strategically on the Sagres promontory, to control maritime navigation on the Atlantic-Mediterranean axis. Its foundation in the 15th century is associated with the figure of Infante D. Henrique. The fortress was built in the 15th century, during the period of Infante D. Henrique. It was badly damaged by the 1755 earthquake and was rebuilt at the end of that century, although in a very modified form. It was the subject of major renovation works in the 1960s, 1990s, and 2010s.
Silves Cathedral
Located in Largo da Sé in the beautiful parish of Silves, this monument is the main Gothic monument in the Algarve.

4.00Alex was a really nice guy and very accommodating to our needs. The only problem was, we could not hear what he was saying. It’s important that there is a microphone or something so that the people in the back of the van can hear what the driver is saying. We missed a lot of what was being said and one of our group had to sit in the front and listen and then re broadcast it to the backseat. Microphones would’ve been nice. Did have nice cold water available and he really was great as we kept changing the time for the pick up. The girl who was re-broadcasting the information had to keep asking probing questions to find out the information as Alex was limited in what he told us and most of the information came from the questions of the person in the front. It was rebroadcasting the information. We needed almost an interpreter to find out more information as he didn’t really know the things he was supposed to tell us unless we asked.
