The Alhambra
The Alhambra, located on the Sabica hill, is an Andalusian palatine city. Its name comes from the reddish colour of its walls, coming from the clay of the land itself (Al-Hamra in Arabic). It is formed by a group of palaces, gardens and fortress where there was a citadel within the city of Granada itself, its main function was to serve as accommodation for the monarch and the court of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada. There are also Christian settlements, such as the palace of Charles V and the church of Santa Maria, built on top of the old mosque. It is one of the most visited monuments in Spain and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984. Enjoy the visit with an official guide.

We visited the Albaicín and Sacromonte with Carmen (my Top Tour). A very interesting and very enriching visit. He taught us many unknown and uncrowded points. I definitely recommend it.

It was very good. Leticia was very well informed and thorough. She was also very thoughtful and spoke with our cab driver to give him directions on how to get to the other exit on the way out.

A LOT OF EYE. I booked and paid two months in advance for a guided tour of the Alhambra to ensure admission given how difficult it is without reservation. Come the day they told me that there was no group and that could not be, that to see tomorrow. The same thing happened the next day and the next. They've had my money, about 100 euros, from two people, all this time and we've been unable to get in. I called the Granada Tourist Office and they told me that these companies work like this, that they are not reliable. This company had good valuations and so I trusted. Now I regret and communicate that they do not trust because they can run out of entrance and it is best to buy them in the own office of the Alhambra well in advance. I've seen now some opinions of people who have had the same thing happen to them, also the response of some script of the company saying that it's sorry and such... little price they pay for having screwed us up well. Whatever you say is responsible for this scam company, you don't fix or solve anything, you're scoundrels. Now I'm wondering if there will be any fake favorable reviews? I insist NOT HIRE THEM if they do not want to risk staying at the door.

The tour of the Alhambra was three hours viewing the palaces and gardens of the sultan and the later king of Spain. The tour guide , Alba, was so knowledgeable and entertaining that the time passed quickly and the group learned the history of Spain from 1100 AD to the 1500s. She also explained Moslem culture and architecture. Tour was well worth the fee. There is about a two mile walk including stairs.

Having a guide for our Alhambra visit added invaluable depth to the experience. We were given historical and cultural context leading to a greater understanding of the Moorish influence in Andalusia still alive today.
