The Alhambra
The Alhambra, located on the Sabica hill, is an Andalusian palatine city. Its name comes from the reddish colour of its walls, coming from the clay of the land itself (Al-Hamra in Arabic). It is formed by a group of palaces, gardens and fortress where there was a citadel within the city of Granada itself, its main function was to serve as accommodation for the monarch and the court of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada. There are also Christian settlements, such as the palace of Charles V and the church of Santa Maria, built on top of the old mosque. It is one of the most visited monuments in Spain and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984. Enjoy the visit with an official guide.

It was unfortunate that there were not enough people on the 11am tour and I along with another couple were put on a 10am tour with a mix of English and German speakers, even though our tickets for the Palace were for 11:am. Result guide Francis was having to speak in both languages and took us to the gardens and the military fort and then told the the 3 of us With 11am tickets to go to the palace at 11:45 am and wait there till the rest of the group with 12 noon tickets could get in. We ended up with a huge group. This was not a pleasant experience for either me or I imagine Francis. He was very aware that I was the only person on my own and did not get lost and that was very nice but he was not able to cover the history of the Arab rule in Grenada or their accomplishments. I was disappointed.

The full visit to the Alhambra and Nasrid palaces was beautiful. The guide is very nice and has brought us a lot of updated information about the history of this unique place. We'll do it again in other seasons of the year.

The experience was fantastic. The story resolved what the view observed. And that I saw was spectacular, many photos I took. Thanks for the guide.

The Alhambra, Nasrid Palace, and Generalifa were beautiful and amazing. The unfortunate part happened at the start. We got lost on the way and were 10 min late. We waited 7 minutes while everyone, three ladies and a gentleman, at the guide counter were in heated discussion with whom we discovered was the guide. When the finally made time for us, they told me we won’t be able to join the guided tour and told us we had to do self guided. We asked if we could join the group that just left and they said no. We accepted this because we were late, but don’t understand why when that we arrived they hadn’t left yet and if one person could have dealt with us we could have left with them without delay. When booking, beware they are not very accommodating.
