What To Expect

Pagoda of Fogong Temple

Your private tour guide and driver will pick you up at 8:00am in your hotel lobby in Datong, drive about 1 hour to Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. It was built in 1056 during the Liao Dynasty (916–1125),75km from Datong city, which is the oldest all-wood pagoda in China, as well as the only Buddhist temple that was totally built with wood.

Hengshan Hanging Temple (Xuankong si)

After enjoy a nice local lunch, contiue to Hengshan Hanging Temple.It was built on the cliffs of Mt. Hengshan,one of the five most scared mountains in China, the only existing temple which combines Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism together in China. Its extension is complete hanging on the cliff, with its halls connected by winding corridors and bridges. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Datong.

I had the most fantastic time with our guide Phoebe who is fluent in English and from Datong. She was super knowledgable and kept up with my fast walking pace! It really was a good idea to get a guide for the hanging temple and pagoda, it makes ot way more meaningful. Ive never had a guide in China before. She brought us to a really good restaurant for lunch, clean, fast and delicious. She even let us try some recommendations she had. She was patient, attentive, kind and personable . we had some really great conversations in the car about each others life, culture, beliefs and upbringing. Thank you so much Phoebe 谢谢
