Our tour guide Becky was amazing. She gave very detailed explanations on the Terracotta warriors. She also gave us advice on how to get around certain tourist attractions. Really enjoyed her tour and would recommend her.

The Terracotta Warriors are spectacular and the tour with Becky from Wendys Xian Tours was the best way to see them. Many of the reviews of the Warriors mention the crowds - we went at the height of the Summer holidays and there were very large numbers of domestic tourists. However we took Becky's advice and set of early from our hotel in Central Xian (the journey was around 45 minutes) and Becky helped us move swiftly and efficiently through the crowds and easily find great viewpoints. She was also an excellent guide, providing plenty of information and answering all our questions. The driver was outstanding - we felt very safe despite some intense downpours and flooding on out return journey!

Wendy was engaging with my kids. Gave us interesting facts and made the afternoon fun. She even recommended a show and gave us a ride there. Got snacks for my kids after the show. My 12 years old son actually turned to me and said: I have to admit this was pretty cool.

I don't say this lightly - I am a very particular person with extremely high standards, and I would give Wendy 10 out of 5 stars if I could. If you are fortunate and can shell out some extra $ for a private tour (vs. a semi-private or group tour), it is well worth it. We chose the afternoon tour, as we were scheduled to arrive past midnight in Xi'an and wanted to be able to get some rest and properly enjoy the excursion. A few days ahead of our scheduled tour, Wendy initiated a chat conversation to discuss logistics - i.e., what specific time did we want to start - did we want to start earlier and end earlier? I mentioned that we would want to eat lunch before setting out, and she said she and the driver could pick us up from the hotel earlier and they would take us to a local restaurant before heading to the tomb (aka Terra Cotta Warriors, aka the massive tomb of the "First Emperor of China"). Since we were not familiar with the area and had limited time in Xi'an, we agreed to a slightly earlier pick-up for lunch. (Note - lunch is not included in the price of the tour. It is an out-of-pocket expense.) I am a huge foodie, and I typically will research restaurants to no end well in advance; however, I had been short on time prior to our trip and was quite pleased with the restaurant Wendy took us to. I cannot remember the name of the restaurant, but it was a "biang biang" noodle shop. Wendy recommended the restaurant's specialty, a crispy-skinned whole chicken, as well as an order of biang biang spinach noodles. The noodles are very wide and long - the "normal" order is 1 noodle per person (you read that right - 1 noodle - and believe me, it is plenty). After lunch, we got back into the very comfortable van (I believe it is a 7-seater - the type with reclining single seats in the middle section and automatic doors on each side) and headed for the tour site. Wendy arranges all of the entry logistics and was able to procure a wheelchair (inclusive of an attendant) for my father, who has some mobility issues. (Note - this is also an additional cost, but Wendy can make all of the arrangements and it can be paid in cash. Other payment methods may be available, but since we paid this in cash, I can't speak to them.) Wendy's historical knowledge and more importantly, her ability to *explain* this history to our family, is beyond impressive. As if that alone wasn't enough, she did this in 2 languages - Mandarin Chinese and English - EXPERTLY (my father is a native Mandarin speaker, and while he understands English just fine, there are some things that are just more effectively conveyed in the native tongue). I believe she is also fluent in a couple other dialects as well. In addition, Wendy knows the best spots for photos and highlights the more interesting / "vital" spots of the various pits and navigates the crowded walkways very well. There were a couple of times where our group got a bit separated due to the massive crowds, so I would definitely suggest some way to keep track of each other, but this is not unique to this tour site or operator. I would also call it "user error" as it was typically because my partner decided to wander away on his own while not being able to speak Chinese, so there is that too. :P All in all, I could probably go on for pages about this tour and Wendy herself. There is a reason why the tour has a 5-star rating. If we ever visit Xi'an again in the future, I would book another tour with Wendy in a heartbeat to see the rest of what Xi'an has to offer. Thank you Wendy!

Wendy was such an excellent guide! She taught me so much about the history of the terracotta warriors and was also really funny. We had a great day and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Xi'an. If you're going to visit the Terracotta warriors, I hope you are lucky enough to do it with Wendy.
